You can do better than MSRP. I'll bet you'd get a lot closer to $17,000 than you think on a new machine. Just pop by a dealership.

Just noticed taht the 2007 has the power front blade. Hmmm...interesting. That changes things a bit. Real shame it doesn't have the mower. If the guy took $15,500 or even $15,750, that'd start to look REALLY attractive. Unless you don't care about the front dozer blade.

Keith,

The '07 BX24 has the attachments; the '05 BX23 has none.

The 24 does has a 60" finish mmm along with a power angle front blade, ballast box and toothbar.

As for coming down in price, I don't expect it to happen on the 24. I asked him last night if his price was firm and he said he's not in any hurry to sell it.
Enough said.

A $17k selling price for new is about 19% off of a $21k msrp. Do you really think that is possible? I didn't think they discounted them that much. If that is so, then this is a no-brainer. Why would anyone buy used???

A) My bad...should have re-read your original post. The 24 does have all the bells and whistles. That price with the front blade is starting to look a bit more attractive. Really.

B) I can get the base rig (WITHOUT THE FRONT BLADE, the toothbar, or the ballast box) for under $18,000. I am 92% certain that is with at least a 54" deck but I'd have to go by the dealership to make sure. Remember that the power front blade is some $2,000. I believe I had calculated that my tractor was over 12% below MSRP, all told. That was a pretty good (not bad, not incredible) deal, I thought.

C) You hit the nail on the head with the used price vs. new. If the unit holds TOO MUCH of its value, it is impossible to unload onto a used market, especially if there is attractive financing available.

I don't think anyone could call you a fool for getting the BX24 you've mentioned. But if I were you, I'd stop by a dealership just to make sure it is the right call. Don't trust the MSRP. Add it all up (blade, box, etc.) and you'd be closer to $19,000 at the dealership, but that is for a brand new machine and 0% financing. At least it would then be your choice.

I checked with 3 dealers today and to say the least, I'm amazed. Two told me they each had about a dozen 24s on the lot. The third had several, whatever that means.

ALL were holding very close to list, even with all that inventory. One guy even had the balls to quote me a base list price that was $431 higher than the Kub website and the base price quoted by the other two, which, by the way, was the same as the Kub pricing. You know he just knocked himself out of contention.

Best deal was just a mere 6% under msrp. I just love it when they tell you that they can't go any lower, but they'll "take care of you" after the sale.

No where near what you were suggesting Keith. Maybe I should drive to Va! :--)

Even the 17000 sounds high compared to the quotes of 14500 to 16500 I have seen people post on here recently that they have gotten for new BX24 tractors.
== L B ==
I paid 15500 for my BX23 and have seen a few post here where folks say they have gotten quotes within $1000 of that lately for a new BX24.

Jim,

I'm surprised that with the number of dealers in your area, that none of them are offering a better deal. There aren't many Kobota or tractor dealers in general near me in Delaware and the highest quote I got in December for a BX24, 12" bucket and 54" MMM was $17,185. I got mine without any haggling for $16,200 (around 13% below list) from the nearest dealer, Hoober, in Middletown, DE. For another $65 I got 0% financing for 36 months. I believe it was the only one they had in stock and they had to transfer the mower from one of their other locations. Hoober is a big Case dealer and BX sales are considered "lawn and garden". :p I don't know if it was the time of the year made them eager to sell or what. Hoober does have a location in McAlisterville, PA and it might be worthwhile checking them out.

I'm with keith here . I still think You can do better than this.
As a side note when I was shopping for my BX23 PA dealers had the highest prices on it of all the dealers i got prices from in ohio w,va. ky. and pa.

You need to go somewhere other than those 3 dealers that's for sure.
I paid
$14200 for my BX23 .
$1300 for the 60"MMM .
$1500 for the 60" hydraulic lift and angle front blade I bought for it last Nov.
-----------------
Total cost to me $17000.
If you can get a new BX24 equipped like this for 17500 to 18000 that's not bad in todays market .

I definitely agree with all of you; these western PA prices are too high, I am amazed too because of the large inventories sitting on their lots. I'll be checking two others that are relatively close to me and then it's time to go "outside the box." Even with today's gas prices, I'm not against doing a little driving to save the $$$.

Last year I purchased my van from a dealer in the Columbus Ohio area because the PA dealers wouldn't budge on pricing. Ended up paying under invoice for a Honda. That's unheard of around here! Even with the added costs of picking it up, PA plates inspection & emission fees, I was still about $1000 under what the PA guys wanted.
