TYM 293 hard to start even after replacing battery and starter. It turns over too slow to start but runs good after starting. Need jump start every time.

I had a similar problem once with a brand new Napa gold battery. Figured I got a bum battery. Napa tested battery and it tested higher CCA than label. Negative battery cable to frame was buried behind battery. Ground terminal was bolted to frame with paint on it. Cleaned ground cable and removed paint from frame contact point. Tractor had never cranked so fast since I bought it new. If that's not it I would suggest having your battery load tested, and verify voltage at battery running at 1500 RPM is 14.0 volts or better.

Check and clean all high current connections... At the battery, starter solenoid, starter case ground, and main ground to frame.
If that doesn't fix the problem, replace the high current cables, as they can deteriorate internally.

Good deal, thanks for letting us know the fix!
This was very interesting - I think the corrosion has been going on for a while - after getting your replies I started looking for wire problems.
I tested everything for resistance and current and could not find a problem so I decided to hunt down all of the grounds - when found one I could barely reach and tugged it just came apart the connector broke. I suspect there was minimal contact for a couple of years. Engine starts great and runs fine.
