Type of oil and coolant for my new tractor

It's just not right that a 6400 should be 21 years old.

I talked to the JD dealer I use about the new tractors and he said "keep the 6400". It just turned 2000 hours, at this rate it should be the last tractor I'll ever buy.

I never buy oils from a dealer but I do buy OEM filters mostly because I am too lazy to try and cross reference them AND they are a relative long term item so I don't feel the pain very often.
I don't buy dealer oil, because lets face it none of the manufacturers (tractors, cars, motorcycles etc) make their own oil and only spec that the oil meet certain API classification which you can get from anywhere. I do stick with popular brand names. I like the Shell Rotella T6 oil for all my engines because I can use it in any engine I have whether it is diesel or gasoline, so I don't have to stock a bunch of different oils.

I get all my oil and filters for my JD 6400 from my JD dealer. The Plus 50 oil may be a little more expensive but in the 21 years I've owned the tractor so far no engine problems.

I don't have a problem with a little more expensive. I have a problem with being screwed. Once I feel like I've been taken advantage of, I have a hard time allowing it to happen again.
