Thanks Rick. I look at the TZ like most compacts. It is a lawn mower with dreams of being a real tractor. My 1920 does some jobs I can't take my TN into but it is useless for much else as it is too light. After the 1920 I no longer have any type of high expectation for the TZ other then to mow the yard but I do know I will probably hook it to a trailer at some point in its life just to shuttle it around.

Ideally I would get a zero turn machine but I have to pay tax on them. The TZ gets me away from the tax and is easier for my grandfather to drive. As for servicing, I will just take it to you if it is that big of a pain /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I am still working with the dealer on numbers. the TZ25 with 60"mmm would cost me $10,800. I think I can drop to the TZ18 and get close to $10k. My one question that hopefully you can answer is this, how much work is there to set up one of the TZ's? My dealer wants $1200 for setup and the other NH fees like freight and surcharges. I do not know how much the actual setup cost is but if I can save $500 by doing it myself (not like we need to mow the yard in a few months now) then I would do so. Is it mostly bolting on tires, hood and MMM and preping the motor or is there more to it?

What would that do to your factory warranty? I would think it may have an impact on it since you are not an authorized NH dealer. Just something else to think about.

Wow, I am disappointed to here it. It seems the BX's have the same fan issue, and I know my neighbors bx when lifting a big load or off center load the hood pops up.

If it is as simple as bolt on the wheels and hood then I don't think the warranty should be affected. That is something I will worry about later once I know if it is feasible

Don't look at the TZ as if it were a compact. The name sub-compact is not a misnomer. It is less than a compact by every measure. If you can save $500 by assembling it, have the time and patience, you should go for it. Maybe the dealer has an assembly manual lying around from a previous unit, or will download one for you to peruse prior to committing to the chore. There is a fair bit to it, but it is not rocket science.
