TZ18DA...one on the way, any feedback out there?

Well, I took the plunge....my new TZ18DA is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.
After looking and checking out just about everything in it's class/size, I hope I have picked a good one!
Any comments on NH in general as far as quality and longevity?
How about the 3 cylinder diesel the TZ18DA uses?
Appreciate any comments....I am a newbie to tractors! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

As far as people actually USING a TZ class tractor, you are among the very first, so consider yourself a "test dummy" for the tractor. But I stopped off and looked at some last weekend at my NH dealer and they are very well designed from everything I could see. The engine is a tried and true engine, it has been used in the TC18 for years, so you should find it to be a very nice engine.

The 3pt hitch appears to be a full Category 1 hitch, which is something that has been a weakness of the Kubota BX series tractors, and the BX is the tractor by which all others a judged. From what I could see, the TZ has some advantages in its design, the engine runs at a lower rpm than the BX, the hitch is better. The TZ cannot take a backhoe, which some would consider a disadvantage (the JD 2210 cannot take one either).

All said, the TZ appears to be a nice machine, you should be well served and very happy with the tractor as long as your intended use of the machine is well matched to its capabilities.

By the way, you might want to fill out your profile so we can see where you are, what your uses for the tractor will be, how much land you have, etc. It will get you more specific advice when you ask questions about uses for your tractor.

My understanding is that a backhoe for the TZ series is in the design stages.

Has anyone been able to confirm that rumor? As a dealer I suspect you might have considerably better information that us consumers.

Also, just a quick question, does the TZ have a 12-volt power outlet to accept cigarettle lighter style plugs? I noticed there is a 10 amp power outlet under the seat of the new TC24DA, I didn't remember to look under the TZ seat.

Hi Bob,
Sorry, I still haven't spent enough time here to fill out the profile yet.
I have app. 6 acres, and a 60 X 2000ft grass runway to mow, take care of,etc. Also, going to pull a cart around hauling tools and stuff... may need to pull a light aircraft around on occasion, AND maybe plow a little snow out of my 400ft gravel driveway.
I think the TZ18DA will do what I need.

Also, late breaking news!
My TZ arrived this afternoon! Put about an hour on it mowing some grass....first impression?

I cannot say enough good things about my New Holland so far. I have a feeling you will be very happy with your choice of machine. I have a TC29D and it is by far the best purchase I have ever made. I think that New Holland is top notch. The little 3 cyl. diesel has not skipped a beat one time.. EVER. Have fun!
