UFO'S and barbed wire

For entertainment purposes, I've been reading about the Roswell incident. One account tells of a person who got his hands on some debris from the crash. He supposedly wasn't able to burn the material, or cut it with a knife that he had previously used to cut barbed wire. The thing that facinated me wasn't the exotic material from the crash but a knife made here on Earth that would cut barbed wire. If anybody knows where I can purchase one, please let me know.

My guess is that he should have cut the alien material BEFORE ruining his knife on the barbed wire.

If the cowboy really did cut barbed wire with his knife back before 1947, I guess it must have been with a method or device similar to one of those described in the replies. I was thinking he might have used a pocket knife. The literarure hasn't been very clear on this.
