Ive seen a lot of cool and complex attachments, I thought it would be a fun thread to see everyones idea of the ultimate attachment for either a skid steer or a tractor. To start the thread off, here is a skid steer attachment I came across in Montana a few years ago!

Now thats cool :D

I have to say the most impressive attachment (for either a skid steer or a tractor) would have to be a mulcher...The first time I saw one I did not even know what it was...I thought it was a stand alone machine rather than a regular skid steer and an attachment...

-for a non-powered (drag/push only) has to be a Box Blade w/ scarifiers

-for not so run of the mill add-ons.....I have to vote for the auxillary alternator run off the mid PTO...set up with a deep cycle battery and an inverter allows the use of electric power tools anywhere in the field (without needing a big generator)

I'd say a Harley Rake I suppose. Thats a pretty unique piece of equipment.

I saw one of those at the East Idaho State fair a few years back. I had to look twice to realize it was a skidsteer. I thought it was pretty cool.

I don't have much to add about the ultimate tractor attachment. I'd have to say the plain old backhoe attachment would seriously increase the usefulness of a tractor. I may just be saying that because I don't have a backhoe yet.

I'll bet that's a pricey little devil.

For the FEL of course for me it would have to be Loader Buddy for its simplicity and versatility.

The Loader Buddy looks pretty cool. Any idea when a QA version will be available?

just doesnt look like it would perform like youd expect.

i just dont get the feeling that the skidstear has enough ground speed to make the grader work right. Not that you COULDNT get enough ground speed out of it, but when you had it that high up in the hydrostat, it has virtually NO power so again, the grader just wouldnt work as you might expect.

not to mention the hydraulics on the arms.... unless you had a way to lock the arms in the down position, i just dont get the feeling that it would hold the constancy you would expect out of the grader. between flex in the mount and drift of the hydraulics over time.... again just not what you would expect.

as to the question

whats ultimate attachment mean?

most versatile? most specialized? best performance for the price?

IMHO i guess it would be the attachment that you added to your tractor that allowed you do the most number of things you couldnt do before you had it.

for instance, probibly not a box blade becuase i can move dirt around with my FEL, i can level dirt with my FEL...

probably not something specialized as you can ONLY do ONE thing with that item, brush hog ONLY does mowing duties. trencher ONLY digs trenches, stump grinder ONLY grinds stumps.

wouldnt be a dirt pan because it ONLY moves dirt and i can do that already with my FEL (perhaps not as quick as with a mini-pan, but still quicker than by hand)

so to that end

a backhoe attachment.

for digging. trenches, footings, stumps, dig holes for trees/shrubs, lifting logs, stumps, beams, etc

none of which i could do before with just an FEL. (perhaps some of the lifting tasks but not to the extent i could pick things up with my hoe and thumb.

Ultimate?

The most versitile attachment I have is the universal skidsteer mount and extra hydraulic valve I installed on my tractor. Made my tractor a whole new machine.

schmism The idea of "ultimate" is different, from person to person some view it as the favorite one they own, some think of ultimate as the one they most want and some like the "wow" factor.

Maybe it's simple......it would be hard to live without a FEL!!!!!??:D

995er I Like that firewood processor That would be very cool!! This one is very cool also, I have ran one of these they are very impressive!

The most amazing in the stump removing tool #1 the Backhoe, for things it can do and simplicity #2 the boxblade, #3 QA FEL attachements.
