Umbrella

I got the same one from Tractor Supply and love it - assuming it is a femco/snowco brand.. I have to fold my ROPS to get the tractor in the garage and this was the best way to go IMHO

Be very careful about driving near/under tree limps.. I broke one of the arms of the umbrella frame when it caught a limb.. I am still waiting for someone from snowco and femco to return my call about replacing the umbrella frame - its only been about 6 mths now, so i may just give up..

Without the umbrella on it is also quite easy to run the rops mounted frame tube piece into stuff and bend it (tree limbs, garage door header etc etc).. LOL

Also watch the umbrella rubbing on the frame piece that is behind the rops.. I wore a small hole in the umbrella within the first couple uses. I now put a cut tennis ball over the end of the tube.. From your pic, it appears that your tube may not rub though..

enjoy

I drove mine under a tree Saturday without thinking and the next thing I knew, dead limbs and umbrella parts were falling on me.#*&!!! Luckily all it did was break the rivets on 2 of the bows. I had it repaired in an hour and was back to cutting grass and staying clear of any trees. I didn't have any rivets, so I cut some small nails and peened the ends. I need to modify the rear pole bracket to pivot the umbrella down a little more.

LOL - sorry, but I tried to warn you, im glad you were able to fix it.... You sorta forget how it is up there at times dont you?

I ended up drilling new holes at the bottom of the umbrella post (where it attaches to the rops mounting) so it would spin if it hit something instead of bending - i was wallowing out the holes used to secure it in the mounting hole from hitting stuff..

My wife is constantly after me to get one of these but I have lots of blackjack oaks. To me there is none worse than a blackjack for a cover like this, or any cover. Very tough limbs that like to grow down.

For now it's just me and my future skin cancer. just joking.

Hey, dont even joke about skin cancers. I just had over 50 benign spots removed from my back and face. I have rarely gone out without a long sleeve shirt since my teen years. I guess all those on my back were from my teen years when I was usually shirtless working on the farm. I guess once damaged, those cells never recoup, but just hang around for a few (many)years before they start reproducing in strange ways. Better stock up on the sun block also.
Good luck with your umbrella and the trees.

I got the pole saw (manual version) out the other day and started trimming all my trees so they limbs wont hit the umbrella.. I need to finish up sometime soon, but that is quite a work out.. LOL

Cancer is the main reason I got the umbrella. I would love to have a tuff top, but I figured it would be a little to heavy and cumbersome to fold down the rops to get in the garage with it attached..

There is a post on the build it yourself that a guy had on a hard top that he designed to fold forward with the ROPS. Looked a little hard to get off the tractor but it stayed level when it folded and I seem to remember that it rested on the FEL frame when folded. It looked to be high enough to still sit in the seat and drive the tractor into the barn or garage when folded. I read the whole post on do it yourself but dont remember how far back it was. I am sure some smart guy will search it and find the thread though
