Unable to get spindle off bush hog mower

I need to replace the bearings inside the spindle on my bush hog RDTH60 finishing mower. However, I am unable to get the spindle to stop spinning in order for me to remove it. Anyone got any instructions and or tricks for getting this thing off?

You can't get the spindle to stop turning to get the nut off the top? Or you can't get the spindle out once you get the nut off?

I am unable to get the nut off the spindle.

Spray penetrating oil on it (PB Blaster). And, either put the blade back on and block it with a 2x4 so it doesn't turn or use a pneumatic impact wrench to reverse the nut. You can also put a steel pipe over the threaded end of the spindle and smack it a couple times with a hammer (so you jar the nut, but don't bung up the threads) and/or heat the nut with a propane torch (so it expands and fits more loosely. The last couple suggestions just make the nut easier to remove, you still have to block it or use the impact wrench so the spindle doesn't spin.

Thanks that helped a lot, got the spindle out. Now i have to get the bearings removed. I have removed the clamp pin on both sides, but am unable to get the top set of bearings off. Any thoughts? Thanks.
