Unattached Hydraulic line caps

I use the lids off 1 quart plastic oil containers such as penzoil, quaker state, etc. to cover the small female quick attach hydraulic couplers on the mini-hoe. They fit perfectly.

I use the TSC caps. I cap my attachments and the PTO lines on the PT then when I connect up the attachments I take the two caps and put them together so they don't collect crud on the inside when the attachments are attached.

Not sure if you can tell in this photo but one cap is going over the arm and the other is going under to keep the caps off to the sides.

I use rubber crutch or chair leg tips of the appropriate size [I forget the size right off now ] . I drilled a small hole in the end of the cap and put a small eye bolt in the end and tied a masonary string to the eye hook and the other end of the string to the hose with some slack in the string. I have a set of these tips on each of my implements. When I disconnect the quick attach I take the tips off the implement and put it on the ends of the quick attach hoses and connect the implement up, that way the ends of the hoses are covered any time they are not in use. The string will help hold the loose ends of the hoses in place. The tips has to fit snug, the small hole for the eye bolt lets a little of the air out when you push the tip on the hose to keep the pressure from pushing it back off. It works really well for me if you decide to try this I hope it works for you.

On the PTO lines I took water bottles and cut off the small ends. I then slide them over the fittings. It helps keep dirt out of the disconnect rings and probably the rest of it. I only use this when no PTO attachment is mounted.

I recently rearranged the 1/4" auxiliary PTO fitting setup on the PT and all attachments. From the factory, the fittings on the tractor are both male, and the fittings on the attachment hoses are both female. They all needed dust caps to keep them clean, but keeping the dust caps clean enough to use was a pain.

I decided to copy the setup that PT uses on the main PTO. I bought some extra male fittings and swapped around so that everything has one male and one female.

The hoses to the quick-attach cylinder are just long enough to plug together when disconnected. All of the attachment hoses have plenty of length to plug together for storage.

The two big advantages I've found so far are: No more dirty dust caps, and I don't have to remember which hose hooks up where in order for the controls to work the same way each time.

The one negative so far is that temperature increases can cause enough pressure to build up that it can be difficult to disconnect the hoses. I've had to use a small hammer and punch to tap the sleeve back to release it. At worst, I might occasionally have to unscrew a fitting from a hose.
