Under the Tree

Thomas,
Nah, I won't get another tractor for a while. While mine looks clean in the pictures I posted, it does need some detailing before I could show it; I want to make it spiffy before I get anything else.

My next choice for a old tractor is a 50's Cub, an Allis-B, or a Deere-L, in order of preference. A Massey Pony would be fine too. I originally wanted a Cub, but they are hard to find in N. Calif.

Given garage size and space constraints, I am sticking to compacts. I'd like to get a H or M, but that's a big piece of machinery

Yes, my B8200HST does make life easier, but it just does not have the character that these older compacts have. The only way I would give it up is for a L3010HST, or a 4300(I like my Kubota, but the other guys have nice stuff too).

RobertN,
Now that would be nice looking set, your Farmall A and Farmall Cub. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Farmall Cub 50's are still around in these parts also still used, maybe do to the region of mostly sales back than.

Now if you could purchase a 47 or 48 Cub WOW. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

I don't know much about the Allis tractor, /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif but have work on a couple of the JD L's a 1937 & 1938 and there little mules for sure.

Robert, you got to look into the Farmall M closer mostly the Farmall M-TA,for those were the quite giants and I still long for one.

Theres nothing like a sound of an old JD on a cool morning or evening making that chugging sound as she works. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hope you made out okay on the carb issue.

Take care out there and bring life back to your yesterday iron.

My closest neighbor has a Super H and two Super Ms; one on LPG. He was still using them until last year. He's talked about selling them, but I'm betting he never will because they look like junk to me and I don't think he'd take less than $1,500 for any one of them.

A few more presents came to light the day after Christmas when our family headed up to the property. My 3-year old was the most pleased with the little surprise I had assembled and hidden a couple of weeks earlier.

The attached picture shows him with his new pride and joy, which he used not only to help Daddy transplant daffodils, but to water them as well.

And yes -- I'm working on a Sippy Chalkley Cup. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

BTW - My deepest sympathies to those of you who are getting slammed with sub-zero weather, freezing rain and snow drifts up to your armpits. As you can see in this picture, out here in California we're actually getting concerned that winter hasn't even started yet. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Jim -

even looks like you

I'll have to take that as a personal compliment, since obviously he is good-lookin'. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

What kind of trees are those in the background?

The whole 42 acres is populated mostly with oaks and pines.

A couple of goodies, for sure. A new Ryobi circular saw. A new pair of Wells Lamont thinsulate lined gloves-really needed for all the snow plowing I been doing. A dozen golf balls and some cool socks with Mickey, Donald Duck, and some others on them.
