I got mine on craigslist for $150.00 with two collars.

I had the Invisible fence brand installed to enclose about 10 acres to keep our Lab and English Bulldog in the yard. I liked the fact they did the training and that it has worked flawlessly for 4 years...

Ditto on the wireless. You can put it in the house, adjust the range, move it around. It trained my two dogs almost immediately. Had it hooked up for a couple of months and then it was not required anymore. The training was embedded in their psyche forever. I sold it for a little less than I bought it for the same day I listed it in Craigslist. So in the long run, it was cheaper than the wired type.

That was ten years ago. The dogs still don't leave the immediate area, even to bite a UPS man.

We had an Aussie that was all energy. So I buried the wire in the pavement in our U turn driveway. The rest of the wire I hung on the fence that surrounded the rest of the property. After getting zapped a few times and us scolding her when she was close to the wire she would not cross it anymore. After about a year with the collar on we took the collar off and she still didn't cross that line for about 6 years.

We have a sportdog brand and although their hunting collars suck, the underground fence is awesome. I have about 4 acres fenced and no issues. 3 dogs and not one has gone thru the fence.

I would recommend anyone installing a fence find, borrow, or rent a trencher, it will make your life a lot easier.

We had a generic band from Menards, worked great. No real need to bury the wire as long as its in an area that doesn't get mowed. Kept in a beagle and couple labs.
Hows it going to keep the chickens off the road? thats alot of collars:laughing:

I worded the part about the chickens wrong, I want to keep the lab from chasing the chickens. Also keep the lab and the beagle off the road.
Thanks Adam

I know you didn't ask this, but you might find value in conditioning the dog so he can hang around the chickens. We have hawk and coyote problems. Having our dogs in proximity to the chickens and turkeys has helped keep them from being lunch.

The lab does real good with the chickens until one starts squawking, and flapping its wings. Then the chicken peaks his interest so he decides to give chase, more out of curiosity then anything. I am not planning on completely isolating him from them, just giving the chickens a area to get away from him if he decides to give chase.

Well I hope it will work that way anyway haha
Thanks
Adam
