I guess I was under the impression that Mahindra built their own, maybe rebadged them for others, not that they were just starting to build their own.

.

I'm with you. I believe Mahindra does make their own. With the exception of some of the smaller ones. I have a friend that has a small Mahindra and I believe it;s built by TYM

As far as I know Mahindra does build their own. With the exception of some of the smaller ones. I believe TYM builds some of the smaller Mahindra tractors.....................Anyone know if Daedong builds the larger 100 hp McCormick tractors ?

Grover, welcome to the site. There's a wealth of information and knowledge to be found here. I didn't know anything about tractors before I joined. I knew I wanted a CUT with a loader and backhoe but didn't know what brand or what size. I spent about a year and a half reading threads and asking questions. I was torn between Mahindra (the smaller ones are made by Mitsubishi by the way), John Deere (rebadged Yanmar), Yanmar, Kioti and Kubota. After all my research I decided that the Kubota B3200 was the right tractor for me.

The search function will find more answers to specific questions than you could ever imagine.

Good luck with your search!

And to make it even more confusing, it is my understanding that LS is no longer building the new compact tractors for New Holland. I read that New Holland went back to Shibaura for their new tractors. Apparently, NH realized that consumers had wised up and didn't want to pay several thousand more for the same blue tractor that said "New Holland" on it than for a blue one that said "LS" on it.

And now LS is using Shibaura diesels in their compact tractors instead of Mitsubishi engines. Apparently, Mitsubishi raised the price on their Tier 4 engines too much for LS. The Mitsubishi engines were great engines, but that doesn't mean the Shibaura engines are a step down. Apparently, Shibaura makes a darned good engine too.

Buying a tractor is much more confusing than buying a car. I shopped for months, and the more I shopped the more undecided I became. I finally decided there wasn't much difference between the ones I was looking at and I went with the Kioti DK50SE HST. I could have been very happy with the LS, Kubota or Deere also. They are all good, but there is no "perfect" tractor. Go drive a few of them. Find one you like at a dealer you like, and buy it.

No, this is incorrect. LS is still building the tractors for NH. LS builds their own engine (under license from Mitsubishi) and decided not to build a tier 4 engine. They decided to buy from Shibaura instead, who already had a Tier 4 engine available. They made some minor tweaks to the tractor, including moving the fuel tank, and expanding the operators area a bit. Everything else basically remains status quo, including the contract with C-NH.

Interesting. I would have sworn I read somewhere that NH was going back to Shibaura for their new compact tractors. And it HAS to be true if I read it on the internet!! ;)

Well, mea culpa.
