Diesel.

The first time I got a bill for overhauling a ditching machine with a diesel engine I nearly fainted. Great engines but pricey to get worked on.

My B-in-law put his pickup in the river years ago. Tooks weeks for the seat to dry out! That foam inside the seat held moisture for a LONG time!

Rat,
If he/she from just about anywhere in Canada (i take this from his handle) you pretty well have to roll your lawn in the spring time from the frost heaving, making it very uneven in places. Its a ritual for me every spring at home and the cottage, if not you can beat yourself to death when you start mowing. If you have any rocks, stumps or anything embedded in the ground the frost will push it out in the spring. My neighbor at my cottage had a railroad tie for a post under his deck with five feet of it in the ground and the frost pushed it up 8" last year jamming the the front door closed and breaking a side window in the cottage. Mother nature can destroy anything we can build one way or another.

Well the good thing is that you are OK. The tractor can be fixed.

Frankly mowing around our pond scares the bajeebees outta me. I always go real slow and never get too close to the edge. I always have a vision of a muskrat den collapsing and throwing the TC-40D into the pond and I don't want to go there, believe me.

I normally use a trim mower and use it to mow close to the pond. I know it's a bit more work to push but it's a lot safer. At least if it gets away from me the emergency cutoff will stop the blade and engine and all I'll get is real wet.

BTW: I hope your boss has a big heart and lets you keep your job.

Its a 1550. I was driving along the edge of a pond and the roller slipped in and pulled the tractor in. Nothing I could do when the back tires hit the water I bailed out. My boss was pretty cool about it. )</font>

That's a nice catch, hope that pond is not stocked with too many...! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
