We found this in our barn located in Vermont our grandparents bought in 1931. It appears to have a plunger in the bucket and is keyed to keep it from binding up as it moves up and down. The plate that extends from the bottom of the bucket is convex like it is designed to move against another surface for sheering. We would like to know what this was for. It may have nothing to do with a farm. A previous owner may have brought it home from work at some local industry.

Well i have no idea. Seems that the handle pivot point (top left of middle picture) could allow it to operate as a plunger or valve of some type ? Trying to get a grasp on the picture.

Maybe some sort of tool for casting/stamping metals? Not too sure of size but it made me think of the Babbitt "pucks" my dad had bought once to redo the bushings on an old saw.

Whatever the units are - they sure had to be heavy duty to do it.

What's the size and approximate weight. I'd swear that looks familiar but can't place it.

It reminds me of something from a small foundry... one that uses sand moulds.
