When you bought a new PT and had it delivered, how did you get the tractor and attachments off of the truck?

I did not want the equipment delivered to a Depot 35 miles away, and then need to make multiple trips with my truck & trailer to go get it. However, I do not have a loading dock.

Several of the attachments are also very heavy, and I do not have a forklift to lift them off a truck.

What have all of you done to facilitate this situation?

Thanks

I believe that MossRoad took delivery of his tractor at a depot and used the PT ramps to get it in and out of the truck. I think he also attached the big bucket and put several of the smaller attachments isode of it with the bucket hanging out the back.

He has done this several times and can clarify his procedure.

If delivered to a depot, they will load for you.
I would just rent or borrow a 16 ft trailer and bring ever thing back in one trip. Implements on first, PT last. Tie ever thing down tight.

I lived close enough that a private hauler was just as cheap as regular freight and an advantage to that is they came straight to the house.

Here's the lucky new owner driving off of the trailer when it arrived... mower was attached and tiller and bucket on a pallet off to the right. Just dropped the deck and picked up the other two attachments one at a time. Total of 1 to 1.5 minutes even for a newbie! Did I mention I love articulation and quick attach!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I had my tractor and attachments delivered to the depot and I picked up. They have ramps even though I brought mine. First thing I did was fill with fuel, then hook up the forks and used them to lift everything into the trailer. Took a few minutes to tie down and I was on my way.

The PT will fit in a full-size pickup short bed. I hauled mine last weekend up to our archery range to help get ready for an upcoming event. The implements fit into the bed of a friend's Ranger pu, but could've just as easily gone into a small trailer if I had one. I was impressed how easily it backed up the ramps into my pickup. I set the ramps on the edge of the tailgate and secured them to the bumper with cargo straps. Since I have a shortbed Chevy, I couldn't close the tailgate so I set the quick-attach plate down gently to prevent the tailgate from bouncing. I used three cargo straps to secure the PT: one pulling forward, one pulling back, and one over the front tires (at the tailgate gap) with the parking brake on. I slid the ramps underneath the PT and secured with the last strap from the kit of 4 that I had picked up at Home Depot for $16. It is a bumpy road that I travelled and there were no problems either way.

I'd think you should have to make just one trip with your truck and trailer.

But to answer your question: I had it delivered to our local Ace Hardware because they have a loading dock. I wasn't there, but instead of using the dock they moved it and the pallet of equipment directly from the semi to their delivery stakebed, then took it home for me at no charge. At home I have a loading dock, but since I'd ordered ramps with it I could've used them to unload it.

I think it was MossRoad that suggested having a can of gas available. Mine came empty. I think it got driven around each and every terminal it visited until the gas ran out.

There are quite afew loading docks in and around the Green Bay area; Did you buy a pt?

Yep. I took a small can of gas to the depot and used the PT ramps that I purchased. I used the PT to put the 60" plow in the full sized pickup first. Then I loaded both the 60" mower and 48" brush hog in a friend's short bed. I attached the large bucket to the PT, nested the small bucket into that and put the forks sideways into that. Then backed up the ramps. My pickup was pretty rusty, so I left the tailgate at home. The ramps sat next to the PT on each side. Strapped down and home I went.

If you have to pick up at a depot, I recommend a trailer and pickup truck. You can fit a heck of a lot into a pickup and trailer. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I don't know how you'd get it off a semi trailer if you had no loading dock.

Hi Trackks9,

I did not know I had a fellow PT user within a few minutes of me. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Can I come over some time to try out your PT?

Send me a private email so we can work something out.

I am just about to order a PT 425 with a boat load of attachments.

If you want to order another attachment, now would be the time. I can have it shipped with mine.

I live on the N.E. side of GB. What docks are available in that area?

So haapy to find a fellow PT user in my own back yard /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
