I was lucky. The local feed store (Hirsch's) agreed to let me use their loading dock to unload. The trucker was supposed to give me an arrival time but didn't. Instead, I received a telephone call from Hirsch's that my garden tractor was in and waiting for me. It had been unloaded and moved to the parking lot. All without charge.
My next door neighbor repairs old tractors and has a tractor transporter. He generously took me to pick it up and delivered it to my house, and refused to take any pay, not even for the gas.
There sure are a lot of nice people in these parts to treat a newcomer so well.
