I had been clearing brush on a fairly steep slope for several hours. Decided to take one more pass pushing brush down the slope with my FEL. Reached the bottom without any unusual problems. But then started to back up and no go. I was stuck. Wasn't my first time so went through the usual procedures, i.e. four wheel drive, lock rear differential, lift front tires place rocks under, etc.,etc. Still no go.
About now was beginning to think I was really stuck. Do I need to get towed? Turned off the engine and tiredly sat down. About then decided to look under the mid portion of the tractor. To my surprise, I was high centered on a freshly bent 4" tree limb. As luck would have it, I had my chain saw in a utility bucket hanging on a U bolt on the ROPS. Sawed off the limb. Started up the tractor and backed out with ease.
Can thank the chain saw and my thick skid plate from the embarassment of being towed!

Try this the next time you get stuck. Lift your FEL up. Tilt the bucket all the way down. Drop the FEL to lift the front end of your tractor slightly. Back up and tilt your bucket up at the same time. The bucket will help force your tractor backwards. This works real well if you have a tooth bar on the bucket.

Just be careful doing things like that with a saw. If there is pressure on the stump you could have it pinch the saw and then you'd really be stuck. I like Jims idea anyway of using the FEL if you have one. Glad everything went well though. I've cut for years with saws and **** if they don't make me honest after a while.

Buenas noches Dos Perros. What did you make your skid plate from and can you post pics? Glad to hear you didn't have any major ordeal to get out. My loader has saved me every time so far. Thanks, John

Hi Kioti. Copied the skid plate from a TBN post. Maybe TxDon? Made from 3/16 steel plate and attached to frame by J hooks. It runs from the grill guard to draw bar. It has been a very valuable addition for my work. Do a lot of heavy brush clearing. Pre skid plate, had on going problems with damaging wire looms, sensors, other under carriage components. Has access ports for servicing. Highly recommend. Tanga buena dia.
