On the right rear of my 3520 (above the axle and below the fender) there are two two-wire connectors that are capped off. One is labeled "REARWARD" and the other is labeled "FORWARD". There is a third that is not labeled and capped off. The tractor has no optional buttons on the fender (cruise control is the only button there).

Anyone have an idea about what these wires are for??? I found them when i was looking for a hot wire to run an accessory on.

That's my guess, too. What color is the unlabelled wire? Run a continuity test to ground and I bet that it is just that...

Are there any other "unused" connectors arount the back of the seat or rear area? I would also guess that at least the labelled connectors are for auxilliary lights. At least, on my 4115 there was one, two contact, unused connector. Mine is switched by the dash light switch. You could always take a voltmeter, test across the contacts with the switch off and on. They may not be wired to the main light switch but mine is. The 3rd, unlabelled connector might be for an accessory outlet in a cab...just a guess.

Just looked at the electrical schematic for 3000 - 4000 series. Looks like JD is using the same wiring harness for both series. The capped plugs are for hydrostatic models. The two are for the forward & reverse pedal sensor. If the plugs have 3 pins then that is what they are for. If they don't have the 3 pins, then I'm not sure.

Extra connectors are provided for additional light kits. I have helped install those. Mount the lights and just plug them in.

A backup alarm kit is also offered. Not sure if they use connectors in this same area or not.

I have already found the rear work light plugs (2) and have used them to add lighting for work. here is what it has:

one plug: red and yellow wires coming in. labeled "forward". the plug used to cap it off has a wire routed back into itself to connect the red wire to the yellow wire.

one plug: red and purple wires coming in. labeled "rearward". capped off with a cap with no connections.

one plug: orange and black wires coming in. no label. also capped with no connections.

it is really no big deal. i just hate having these "unused" connections.

Ok big help with wirer colors. The red & yellow is the forward PTO sensing switch (option). The red & purple rear PTO sensing switch (option) and the orange & black is the backup alarm option.
