I was looking back at some of the threads I have posted to, and astonishingly, it appears they have died (I was last one to post on them). Maybe I should change my name to Threadkiller.

Speaking of standing in line:

If the population of China walked past you, 8 abreast, the line would

Or so I hear.

depends on how fast they are walking

Here is one to cause a lot of arguements!

驩еppose you豎*e on a game show, and you豎*e given a choice of three doors: Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say number 1, and the host, who knows what逞エ behind the doors, opens another door, say number. 3, which has a goat. He says to you, 闊ケo you want to pick door number 2? Is it to your advantage to switch your choice of doors?

According to Marilyn Vos Savat(SP?), you should switch. The logic goes like this:

When you made your choice, you had one in three odds of getting it right. That left the host with odds of two in three that he was in possession of the grand prize. By offering to switch doors with him, you traded places with the host. Any time you can trade 1:3 for 2:3, you should jump on it.

Think of it like this: What if the door contained the goat was never opened and the host offered to trade? Two doors instead of one is pretty much a no-brainer. The fact that the goat was behind one door makes no difference because a booby prize had to be behind one of the two doors the host owned.

This is kind of like the chair up against the wall trick, women can pick it up, guys can't. Only with this one, you can't seperate your ring fingers, men or women.

Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger?

There is a beautiful and convincing explanation given by the Chinese.

Your thumb represents your Parents
Your index finger represents your Siblings
Your middle finger represents yourself
Your ring finger represents your Life Partner
Your last (pinkie) finger represents your Children

Firstly, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and
hold them together -- back to back. Then open and hold the
remaining three fingers and the thumb tip to tip. As shown in the
below:

Now, try to separate your thumbs (representing your parents) they
will open, because your parents are not destined to live with you
lifelong and have to leave you sooner or later.

Please join your thumbs as before and separate your index fingers
(representing your siblings) they will also open, because your
brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to
lead their own separate lives.

Now join the index fingers and separate your little fingers
(representing your children) they will open too, because the
children also will get married and settle down on their own someday.

Finally, join your little fingers and try to separate your ring
fingers (representing your spouse). You will be surprised to see
that you just CANNOT, because husband and wife have to remain
together all their lives -- through thick and thin!
