Upcoming UTV purchase

I just got a Kubota RTV 500 camo Monday and it seems good so far. After reading all the issues here I took it for a test drive on the biggest hills I could find and it seemed to pull them pretty good:thumbsup: It seems like a heavy duty little unit that will last for quite a few years.

I put the plastic canopy on today but unfortunately my winch didn't make it yet:( Guess I can't get stuck until next weekend then:laughing:

Remember, Kioti keeps threatening to come out with one too. I for one got tired of waiting.

Yeah, as I'm reading through this thread there is a flashing ad on the right side of my screen for a Kioti UTV. Clicked on it nad it took me to the Kioti site but NO MENTION of a UTV anywhere. Did they put the ads out before they have a product they could sell?

They should be :ashamed:

You did not say what you will be doing with it. Mostly work or play/hunting?

If used mostly for play the field is open, Polaris and Arctic Cat are both good.

If you are going to work, but still want the ability to play. The BobCat 2300 4X4 W/intelliTrack cannot be beat. Warning it is the most expensive but you get what you pay for. Available in gas/diesel (I have diesel) hydraulic over electric dump-bed and "RapidLlink" front attachment point for the bucket/snow plow/pallet forks/broom. It works all day and it would be impossible to have my 40 acre ranch without it.

I have plowed 12+ inches of snow from a 3/8 mile gravel drive with one pass. The bucket, although not large also does what I need. Comes with a class three hitch and I tow a 1/2 ton dump trailer loaded up any hill with out a problem. It has full skid plates, roll cage, roof. All in all I love it. See the photo at left. Maintenance is a breeze, the seats lift out for routine service. Oil/air filters avail from Fram, so specialized parts from BobCat are not necessary for routine maint. Here is the link. Good luck on your search.

We have had the Kubota RTV 900 for two years now, very happy with it. Good and capable. It gets used almost every day and we have over 300 hours on it.

The only other unit we looked at was a Kawasaki Mule and it just felt "light duty" compared to the Kubota.

I have decided on the Kubota RTV 900.

It will used for work and hunting. No major trail riding or rec riding. Will be hauling heavy loads, towing loads, and need the hydraulic dump.

As far as terrain, it will be used in the piney woods of East Texas to the mountains/deserts in SW New Mexico. The HST and its ability to slow/stop you going down hills w/o killing your brakes was a BIG plus.

Thanks for all your input!

Everybody complains about the hyrdo trans on the RTV's. I have had mine two years and like it fine. Once you learn how to run them, and how they react, they are good. My wife drives mine and gets by fine, heck my 10 year old cousin drives it and he doesn't have any trouble. It was a little tough at first, but now everybody has the hang of it and it is a great unit.
