Thanks for those who commented.
Here is the scoop so far, dealer picked-up week ago no charge for 25 mile each way trip, really like the dealership and staff.

Dyno'd the tractor and Hp is there. went ahead and change fluids while they had it (35hrs). checked all pressure release and they were in specs.

Told me that the 4 cyl ( 40d and 45d) need some rpm to do work, related to Bobcat engines, turn it up and go. so much for low rpm lugging power.

A Proposal for those who have time: When in good traction (yard with grass) not cement or asphalt, Can anyone out there get wheels to spin in 4wd in (low/rabbit or High turtle).

when I say this I mean dropping the bucket to something stationary (tree). and see if you can get the wheels to spin when you have good traction. I can do it in Low/turtle.

I am use to running out of traction before power on my previous green hydros.

Please let me know what you think and find-out.

Thanks again.

On dry meadow sod with my TC40D with unloaded R4s, I was trying to pull over a deadfall. With the HST in I/Turtle, full time 4WD (not the Sensitrack position), I had chain attached to the drawbar. I was spinning the two fronts and one back wheel, and when I stepped on the diff lock both rear wheels started spinning. The temptation is to push on the forward HST pedal to get more speed, but if you do that you lose torque. I was just bearly pushing the pedal. The dead fall didn't move, but the chain did snap.

I have not tried the same with I/Rabbit or II/Turtle, but I will next time I'm at the farm. I have no prior tractor experience with which to compare.

I have a TC45D with 104 hrs. I have wondered about the power to the wheels also.

I can not spin the tires while attempting to move an unmovable object when in 4wd and in range1/turtle and just barely pressing on the pedal. I usually run the rpms about 2500. The only time I have ever spun the tires in 4wd is on mud or snow. I have tried on loose dirt, packed clay, and pasture grass. I can spin both rear tires easily while in 2wd and differential lock.

I have also noticed that when trying to move the object, the rpms drop very little (maybe a 100 rpms). This is unlike a bobcat engine, which will drop in rpms when under a load.

I should mention I have loaded rear R4 tires and rear wheel weights. Which I am sure helps with traction greatly. But, I would still expect the engine to load down more or the tires to spin.

It is currently at the dealership to fix a couple hydraulic leaks on the remote quick couplers. I have asked the dealer to do a hydro pressure test like spencer200 had suggested. I also asked them to look at the fogging dash problem.

I can very easily run my tractor at low RPMs and have a gob of power with the hydrostatic transmission. I very rarely run it beyond 1700 RPM even for mowing which means the PTO is well below speed but it still cuts well. Perhaps someday I'll have the oppourtunity to try a TC 40D or 45D. Rat...

With a straight forward push on my TC45D, I can spin my R4 tires (both forward and one rear) in both low/turtle and low/rabbit. In low/turtle, I can lock the differential and spin all four (slowly). If there is down pressure from weight in the bucket or a heavy lift on the 3PH, normally only one rear wheel will spin. None of my tires are loaded and I have no wheel weights. At 2500-2700 rpm, the engine does not drop rpm much unless I press too far on the HST pedal and the gear ratio pulls it down.

In high/turtle, I can't even climb some of my hillsides with no load (going from a dead stop to forward movement). The rpms drop and the tractor stalls if I press too far on the HST. If I press the normal amount for maximum torque, the HST stalls. In my opinion, high range is limited to mowing/hauling/towing on fairly level ground and high/rabbit is a road gear.

There where some class 3 boomers that got out of the factory with the hydro pressure relief set to low. This is not corrected by an adjustment but by replacing the valve all together.

How can you tell if a particular machine is affected?

The dealer needs to preform a pressure check to see what the reading is.

Spencer and others, I had the pressure check done, they said within Spec,(I believe 2550 psi was the number).

Here is isan example of what I am talking about.

Today went out with 84 inch Cultivater, turning soil for garden, this is previously farmed ground this year and fairly losse and dry. In low/turtle when too heavy a load is encountered, especially starting a row,the wheels will stop and apply very little power. What I would expect , either engines boggs and stalls or Wheels spin. I can go out in tilled earth and drop the tines down and if I don't feather them the Hst bypasses. Only if Istick the peddle all the way down will the engin bogg, but by then I am in too high a gear to get things going. I fear there is something wrong with Hst but don't know how to test. They said they Dyno'd the pto, did not witness.

It feels loke something sensing load is releasing too soon, It feels loke I have 5000lbs in each tire and the best traction in the world.
6-7 years ago I had a JD 870 Aprox 30hp, I could pull a disc with soo much weight on it I could not lift it without ballast

Help please

Jeff
