Especially inside a tire. Evaporation of liquid inside a non leaking tire would be a neat trick.

Man, I gotta start watching my speeeeling on this system. I can't even edit my own post to fix it.
But, I agree it would be a neat trick in a closed system, with low vapor pressure.

Sorry to hear about the frozen tire problem. They should correct that with no charge, but time will tell. I had a bad experence with the 50hr service and what they charged. The dealer qouted $210.00 when I went to pick it up the bill was $438.50 ! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif they changed parts like the fuel filter which had maybe 30 gallons of fuel pass thru it, both air filters, and $100.00 to clean the deck and sharpen the blades that 10 hours of cutting on them and several other parts. I was not a happy camper the service mgr. said everything was needed and would not back-off the price. I paid the bill and walked straight to the owner and explained the situation as calmly as possible. The happy ending to this story is that with-in 5 minutes I had a credit for everything over the 210.00 and 2 new hats (green one's). They were acting like they were very sorry it happen, but I think I just ruined my relationship with the service mgr.

I'm not sure how the tractor industry works, but in the automotive industry if you are quoted $210.00 and you agree to that, thats what you pay. There is a 10% discrepantcy allowance. Any work or parts exceeding the $210.00 is not your problem, unless they call you and YOU agree upon more. I'm glad to hear that the dealer principal made it right buy you because it sounds like the shop was slow and needed to make some money or they just got happy with the pen. (In your checkbook.)

Bill,
Don't give up on your dealer, he sounds like an up front guy. If the service manager makes a habit of things like this, the owner won't risk loosing customers and/or loosing all of his profit. Think about it. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You did exactly the right thing to approach the owner and state your case, and I'm glad he saw your point of view.

I have a favorite saying:

"Smile and the world smiles back, but snarl if you have to and you may get better service."

That sounds about right for their comeback. Now to find out who drank the alcohol and replaced it with water!

I have a 1993 Chevy Work I bought new, free oil change (Quaker State oil) for as long as you own your vehicle.
I go to the dealer in the winter time to get the free oil change, oil changed get ready to leave, they hand me a bill for about $20 dollars,I say why? They say the oil is free, the filter is $13.00 dollars, paper towels are $2.00 dollars, and about $5.00 dollars for clean up because the truck had some ice an snow under the truck they had to deal with.
What a gimmick
(not to mention the hour or so I had to wait to get the oil changed, never again.)

Sounds like the time I went to Sears to get tires put on my car. I thought it seemed high but I paid the bill (I was only 18), then my old man looked at the itemized bill. They had a $50 charge on there for miscellaneous. The tires were listed, balanced, valve stems, old tire disposal, etc were all listed out. Dad asked them what the $50 was for and they didn't have a clue what it was for and said they always charged that to everyone who bought tires. They wouldn't refund it and thus the reason why I don't buy tires from Sear's any longer.
