I may have missed the original thread but it looks like I'd need to finish removing the fins off the existing fan and smooth the ring until no bumps are left. Then take a new fan, cut out the middle and enough of the ring to slide it over the HST shaft. I guess the self tapping screws are to secure it to the old ring.Do you think ruffing the old surface would make a difference and make JB weld work a little better? You'd need really short screws.

Fact of the matter is that That the removing the old fan bits is the easiest part, check out my other post for the pics

I did this with mine using a screw or two and liquid cement and it worked great. Every time I see someone ripping their tractor apart for this I cringe!
