updated jd 50 restoration w/pics

You're not kidding when you say they don't make them like this anymore!!!

Did anyone ever try to remove the radiator from a Model 50? I did during my restoration of my 1956 Model 50. Had to use a block and tackle to lift it out. Took two of use to lift it onto a truck.

should have all the pieces back from the machine shop by the end of the week. then we'll start putting her back together, and start painting. i'll post some more pics as we get her back together.

finally got the 50 all back together and running. was down for a few weeks as i had to work some mandatory ot. had some issues when we got it running again. leaky headgasket i guess i read the wrong torque specs and was off by a few ft/lbs, so off it came and i put on a new head gasket re torqued to correct specs. and also a leaky water tube, which i re tightened hopefully it stays if not i'll have to get a new one. still needs the decals put on, but i was waiting for a nice warm day so they stick good. i'll post up some finished pics shortly.

What's the HP rating on a 50? I've got a friend that has a 620 (58' model I think) and he says his has 38HP. I used to pull hay bale wagons with an A when I was youngster. It was fine as long as you didn't have to start off going uphill with a fully loaded wagon, or stop going down hill....I'm sure you know what I mean....BobG in VA

Horsepower for the 50 - according to Nebraska tests in 1952 - is 31.0 at the belt; 28.9 at the drawbar.
