I have a mint 2002 e-hydro 4310 with 70 hours. Very happy with it. It has a 60 MMM and 430 FEL with standard bucket. I got it last June. With the hot summer I didn't get to mow all that much since I got it in June. Late in the summer I took on a few more acres to cut. Now wishing I would have gotten the 72 MMM. I called the dealer in the fall and he quoted me $1100 to trade for the 72 MMM. He stated that my deck was used. I declined. I read on-line and my dealer confirmed, that I could have gotten the HD bucket for the FEL for just $200 more at the time of purchase.

I was at my Dealers John Deere day yesterday. Price for the deck trade was still the same. I said how about trading my entire 4310 except swap a 72 MMM and HD bucket for the FEL. He worked his pencil and gave me a trade figure of $5600.

I went home thinking that was high. I called back and asked him. He said he worked the numbers for a 4410. He said the mower was $1000 more. The HD bucket was $200. The difference from a new 4310 to 4410 is $1500. I wasn't thinking about a 4410 as the 4310 suits me ok. The extra HP would be welcome. Doing the math it looks like his take and my depreciation totals about $2500.

Not sure how that looks to others. If one was going to do anything it might be best to trade on a new 4310 and get the 72 MMM and HD bucket over paying $1100 just for the MMM trade-in. My eyes did gleam a bit over the thought of a 4410. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I don't really need to do this and one suggested running the warrany out to the end and look at it again at that point. The dealer said he would contact me in a few weeks if Spring pricing changes anything.

I did note that the 2003 models sport and new seat and adjustment knobs. Wondering how many years till there might be a 4X15 or 4X20 series? Competition seems to be moving along as well.

I have a 4310 with a 430 loader also. The 4410 power is tempting, but I find it hard to justify the price they charge for it. You're right, the 60" mower seems small for this size of tractor. What I did, after going through the same thought process you have, is to get a 72" rear finish mower, which is much cheaper than any MMM. I then used the extra money to get a 5' bush hog and the 4 in 1 bucket for the loader. It is hard to image just how great the 4 in 1 bucket is.

I've never used a 4n1 bucket. Can you give some examples of uses that make it worth the $$$

For me the 4 in 1 is great....the most used implement I have. I live on a farm,I drag my firewood in from the woods in logs, with the 4 in 1 I can pick the logs up and stack them in a BIG pile,I on occasion have to remove T-posts from the ground,I can lift them out of the ground with the 4 in 1,if I need to put my blade in the pickup I use a strap to go through the 4 in 1 and around the blade and lift it up and set it in the bed of my truck. If I am traveling a road in the woods and a tree branch is down,I can pick it up and place it to the side and not even have to touch...it is very handy.

Keep your 2500$. It just isn't worth it since you have a nice setup already. New seats and knobs?? Don't bother.

My 2 cents
