Kubota L4330 with LA853 Loader, Yanmar YM276D with YFL1000 Loader, Yanmar YM276D, Yanmar YM147D, Case 1845C
A few years ago I asked about upgrading the YM276D to a YM336D and here we go again. Currently the barn houses a YM147D and YM276D. None have buckets, but there is a Case 1845C skid steer as well.

The YM147D came first and is in great condition. It's used to mow the grass (belly and finish mowers) and not much else, though it has a snow blade. It has both turf and agricultural tires but most times I run agricultural tires because it's nearly always damp here.

A couple years ago, I purchased a YM276D with power steering that isn't nearly as pretty as the YM147D but it can handle quite a few more attachments than the smaller version. It too has both sets of tires. The bad part is it has no ROPS, not sure why.

I have a neighbor who is offering a YM336D with a front-loader for sale at a fair price? (about 9K). It's low hours and he has kept it in a barn quite a long time. Is it worth it to buy the YM336D and keep the larger two and sell the smaller version? Or would you sell the YM276D and keep the smaller YM147D? Keep them all?

I have a Yanmars 336D, had it for over 30 years. It has the factory loader also. A solid tractor but they are 35 plus years old. I am not sure about parts now although with Yanmar now making US tractor again perhaps they will support them. I have gotten some parts on the internet.
The one issue I have had with mine is one must be careful if one mows high weeds with a lot of fuzz and seeds to be very careful of keeping the radiator screen clean of debris or they can get hot pretty quickly. Mine has a number of drips and leaks but I expect that with the age of the tractor. Fuel efficient, about 1 gallon an hour.
You can never have too many tractors IMO if you have the room. Otherwise maybe sell the one you use the least. The extra horsepower over the smaller tractors can be beneficial at times, never seems like there is enough of that.
I do not know what the 336Ds currently sell for, I only know what I paid for mine in the later 80s.

Thanks for the reply. I went to look at the tractor that was supposedly garage-kept for many years. It's not even as nice as my YM276D. Dings everywhere, faded, It has the YFL 1500 bucket, and the bucket is very rusty. It hasn't been maintained as far as I can tell, rubber ribbed around the bucket control, rust everywhere. When I told the old man what I though, he said, "It's a **** tractor. Not everyone babies them like you." He put a new seat on it to sell it and cleaned up tires.......and the "low hours" meant about 3000. It's doesn't seem like a deal......

Now this is not a fair comparison because times change but in Oct 1989 I bought my 336d with their front end loader and a rear grading blade for $3750. It had under 900 hours on it. That was well below what they were bringing then but he was getting out of the flower/mulch business and moving to Toledo so he wanted to sell it. I am sure I could get more for it now if I was inclined to sell but I still need and use it.

I think 9k is a bit much, however I could be wrong because of your location. I am in the same situation you are and these yanmar tractors are not real common over here so depends on who is selling it will depend on the price. Obviously you are a bit partial to yanmars like most of us here. I agree with yanmars statement "you can never have to many tractors" and if you want to sell one sell the one you use the least, if its your 147d, I would be interested in it, but then again if it was me I would keep both and buy the 3rd one because I am a tractorholic, at least one member here accused me of that :) lol I kind of am!

The rear wheels on the YM336D have 8 lugs instead of 6 which seems more common on some YM336D pictures posted online. If reading is correct, this means it's a later model YM336D, correct?

Jtullis, I will keep in mind you have an interest in the YM147D.

From what I remember a while back, the early years for the YM336d had a 6 bolt pattern until the mid 1980's and then went to 8 bolt pattern after that.

And yes keep me in mind.

I'm late to the game here. But I sold my 3110D (336) last yr for (I believe) $7500.00
I had a added bucket grapple and new tires. Ran great.
I may have sold it too cheap because the first guy that saw it grabbed it up.

Only reason I sold it was I had bought a larger Kubota tractor and didn't really need the yanmar anymore

The Kubota is much easier to get on and off of as well. @ 6'3 240. It was difficult getting on and off the yanmar

I will admit these Yanmars are not the easiest to get on and off, but I am kind of partial to them for some reason, maybe the simplicity, knowing they usually don't break down, no fancy electronics to fail and the fact that we can get parts for them still.

A YM336D with loaded for a mere 9K? That's something you must not mention on the web. Because it's a STEAL of a deal !!!!

In my neck of the woods, a machine like that would go easy for 12K.

If it were me, I would KEEP THEM ALL. But should there be a cost savings, dump the cute little guy YM276. It's just shy of the YM336 to begin with. Why have two machines that are nearly similar. Plus, the ROPS missing is a goofy thing to have.
