Good Choice !

I can tell you from experience that you will love the heck out of your new MX5200! I traded my L3430 HST for a MX5800 HST this spring and there is just no comparison! My trusty L served me well for 10 years until I "inherited" the maintenance of our 1.25 mile private road. The road is quite steep and after every heavy rain, I'm out there with the 8' York rake dragging tons of washed out material back uphill into place. The 3430 did well but most of the time I was using low range and the job took forever. The new MX seems to have more than twice the power and does the same job twice as fast in mid range with power to spare!

Good luck with your new machine!

Here is a picture of my grill guard for a L4240;I would assume you could do similar for the MX.And yes do it before you damage your grill, radiator or battery.

Thanks to all for the replies. Not sure why the thumbnails are upside down, but the actual pictures displace correctly. I have spent a little time on this new machine and what a difference to the L3800. When I test drove the MX5200, the loader was not installed, so I just went by the numbers as far as usability. If one didn't have the resourcefulness in fabricating the brush guards I have seen so far, can similar ones be purchased? I have toyed with the idea of learning to weld, but the time devoted in getting the results I have seen here on this forum may be prohibitive.

Thanks again.

Here is a simple design you could get done reasonably by a shop or friend with minimal skills. My brother built mine and while he can do more complicated builds, I just wanted something quick and easy.

I know of no commercial source. EDIT: just found this: Grill Guard

I recently saw where someone just wired some plywood up. A little crude but looked like it worked.

I did load the rears and currently looking for a root rake style grapple. Any pics of a enhanced grill guard are appreciated. jmoneil

triple r's fabricated version is a good one, if not somewhat overkill

i went to a salvage metal scrap yard & picked up a heavy duty old style refrig rear grill. works great & is a fine spaced grid as well.
