Yep, Dan, some of us even manage to get a tiny bit off topic in some of the other forums./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I ordered new hearing aids this morning. They said the "best" ones would be $6,000, "good" ones would be $3,200, and the cheapest ones would be $2,000, so I told them "I'm cheap" (never really thought of $2,000 as being cheap myself)./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif I thought I might find out what the monkey said when I got new hearing aids, but since I went with the cheapest ones, I may not./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

If you want to see another racket, try software sales. How much do you really think it costs to make one of those CDs (even including programming costs). I guess that the answer is in the 80%+ profit margins.

Software and pharmaceuticals both have basically the same business model. High up-front costs, low duplication effort -- and high profit margins. That's why both industries freak out about intellectual property rights.

Back to the other off-topic thread - I'm up for some ear protection for next season's mowing. Anyone got any recommendations?

My hearing is very sensitive in the lower frequencies (just a freak of nature) and the noise from the tractor does bug me (as do echos). It also bugs my wife when I hear guests pull into our driveway way before she can ...!!!

Have you thought about buying out of the USA, in Washington state here, it is popular to go to Canada for drugs, I know the same items sometimes do not sell for the same price elsewhere. Certain Japanese auto parts sell for 50% or less in Canada from the same OEM dealer.

I wonder how much that hearing aid costs in Bulgaria?

Sure would be interesting to know...

I'm really afraid to ask, but what the heck is the difference in a $2,000 hearing aid and a $6,000 one? Those prices are just astronomical! /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif 6K buys most of the remaining tractor attachments I need! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Del's idea of going to Canada is interesting. If one could get the aid for half price and they could then take a vacation in Canada for the difference! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
