looking for a cheap adapter or router or something. that i can plug in a usb flash drive into. to share files via wireless. prefer smallish in size. maybe even battery powered.

primary purpose is 16gb to 32gb flash drive for pictures and document backup and to centralize some documents / info.

not looking to plug in a external hard drive, just a cheap flash drive.

Tplink TL-WR1043ND. $50 on Amazon and a good solid router.

Amazon.com: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND V2 Wireless N300 Gigabit Router, 300Mbps, USB port for Storage, 3 Detachable Antennas, Speed Boost up to 450Mbps, WPS Button: Electronics

Well if you have the router that has the USB plug on it that will fit the bill...I would rethink the flashdrive 16 to 32gb as you can buy and external USB
hard drive 500gb and up on sale for around $49 to $59 dollars now!! I have this exact setup router withh a 1 TB external drive I bought at New Egg on sale for $69.00 free ship!!

thx for the links aczlan!
might be the upgraded version of the one router you linked to.

open source dd-wrt is not supporting either one of them yet.

the pogoplug.... not really liking reviews, more so multi products i looked at from same company, just uglier and uglier reviews from 10 plus products i looked at. BUT! the cross selling of products lead me to....
Amazon.com: [6-in-1] RAVPower FileHub Wireless N Portable Pocket Travel Router Wireless Micro SD TF Card Reader with Built-in 6000mAh External Battery Pack,Wireless USB,Wireless Flash,Mobile Storage Media Sharing, WLAN Hot Spot & NAS File Server (Blac
rechargable battery, usb flash drive or hard drive, wifi, wall jack power, and can help charge other devices as well. 50 bucks... see if i can find something cheaper of this.

==============
B7510HSD flash drives are cheaper, and i really don't need 500gb plus. 16 to 32gb more than plenty. i can pickup a few flash drives. and rotate them out, for example kinda of a daily backup (1 flash drive per day backup). or swap out usb flash drive, 1 for work, 1 for personal, 1 for misc stuff, a couple for backup.

hhmmmssss wifi usb hub, see what google brings up for that... maybe a raid array of usb flash drives oh?

TP-LINK AC750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router Archer C2 - Newegg.com
open source dd-wrt is not supporting either one of them yet.
OpenWRT is much better and much more open source than dd-wrt (it doesn't yet support that router though)...

As I said, I have never personally used it, I have just heard the name before.

OpenWRT supports USB hubs (but you would need a powered USB hub because most routers dont have much power available on the USB ports).

looks like i took to much time, and the good deals have went bye bye to some degree

all 4 from tp link
wr842nd, archer 2, wdr3500, or the wr1043nd.... choices choices..
$29...............$39...........$43..................$47

wr842nd, lower ram / flash on it vs the others, but cheapest of them all with usb

archer 2, had some good promo's, but looks like it went form 80 buck unit over night, clear down to a budge unit of 39 bucks now. for entry level doings. no open source for it yet that i have found though.

not seeing much difference between wdr3500 and wr1043nd

=============
routers from other manufacturers, not seeing a big splash this year. or were left behind via tp link. kinda like some deal of the big boys, and many of them didn't want to pay to play when the new chips came out.

Go with the wdr3500. Its a better router than the 1043 (N600 vs N300).

wdr3500 it is then!
stinking newegg... there to bloody fast!!! for combined shipping. 4 different orders through them over last few days.... and they have the stuff out and on a truck within nearly 2 hours... (tracking number ready to go and in transit). of course each package is with someone different, fedex, ups, usps, hard saying what the router going out on...

ended up getting office 365 5 pc/mac, with 5 tablet/cell phone. for one year. was cheaper, than getting a couple 2010 home/office/student licences. i was ready and lined up to get them for 30 to 40 bucks per licenses, but everyone ended up jacking up 2010 stuff, and lowering the 2013 office. not really liking the 39days and not online deal with the 365 1 year subscription. 1 laptop never really sees any action. or less another computer goes down. but.. *shrugs*

ended up getting "avg ultimate" unlimited devices / 2 year subscription. free after 50 buck rebate. 2 hours later, it went from free to 10 bucks. was just wanting another licences. but looks like all computers are getting upgraded now.

first time going with SSD (solid state hard drives), not really liking any reviews (regardless of manufacture / make / model). seem like reviews were 50/50 split of good vs a quick death. found 1 with 3 year warranty and good reviews, and went with it. for 2 desktop computers. was going to go with a 2 or 3TB hard drives. but the desktops are more document, and internet browsing. (no gaming, video), so no real need for huge hard drive. need to do some reading up for windows 8.1 and windows 7. caught something about windows 7 and turning something on (done forgot what that was) to keep SSD from a quick death. most likely will need to edit boot files. for a time lapse, so i can boot into safe mode if i ever need to.
EDIT: reminder for myself, make sure to disable any disk defragment-ers or limit when they do there thing.

was so tempted to buy a 3 to 6 disk NAS (network attached storage) box. due to so many low price NAS hard drives a few with 5 year warranties. just not enough cash to see it happen.

snatched a cheap "wifi" camera. wifi built in. no more removing the flash memory, or hooking up a cable to transfer pictures. ((have worn out a few pins, on memory cards, and tired of messing with usb cable)). hoping, i will be able to zap pictures from camera to flash drive in the router if need arises. i thought i lost on this online deal. thankfully went through. being "in proccess" for about 20 hours, had me on the edge.
