I was at a trade show in the Spring, put on by NAPA. They were giving away mini cans of FF, so NAPA may be another option in your area.

Not here, i looked for it yesterday and they never heard tell of it.

I asked for it at the local Lowes a few months ago and the associate in the hardware section had a confused look. I told him the good claims about it after we found it on the shelf.

I've seen that confused look at Lowes on more than one occasion.;) In fact, I saw it when I asked an associate about the whereabouts of Fluid Film. However, he had a smartphone app that gave him the shelf location. In my local Lowes, the Fluid Film is located near the tool section on shelves with other aerosol products such as WD40, PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench, and the like.

Yep, same as in the Statesville location.

Actually, we have only one observation -- I bought mine at the Statesville store, too.:) Do you live in Iredell Co.?

If I could dip my trucks and machines in FF I would. Not because I like the smell (not a fan), but because it is the best rust preventive coating I've come across so far.

I've got a gallon of AR sitting in the shop right now. Its actually hot enough out that it might be in liquid form. This is going on the underside of the F450 and my pickup this summer.

I've heard it works as a slow penetrant oil too, but I usually don't have the patience.

You've reminded me to order another case of the aerosols. :)

There was a countertop FF display, at a NAPA store near me.
I bought some a few months ago, in a discount package deal, here on TBN.
Got a 1 gallon can and a little 8 oz brush can.
I keep the half-pint can in the cupholder on my L3240, so it's always handy.

Here, the Lowes tool dept., with all the other lubes, never heard of it. I found it in hardware with their oils.

I just started using FF and so far it is great. It went on wet and seemed like I applied too much as it did not seem to "dry" off. So I whipped it off lightly and the next day I had a wet looking surface that was dry to touch but seemed sealed. I am confident all the positive recommendations were are correct. I will use it next on the PTO splines as mentioned above. I am tired of struggling with getting the shaft on and off. Found it at Lowes so I only had to buy one spray can rather than order it. It was in the paint section with the WD40.

I saw it in a Lowe's today, on a endcap in a tool isle, was with the other stuff like WD40 and PB Blaster.

According to the Lowes app I just installed it is on the endcap between isle 69 and 70 in tools. Supposed to be 3 in stock in my store.

what are people's thoughts on using it on the deck of a mower. To be specific, once the deck is cleaned and dry, to spray it on the underneath side were it cuts the grass. I just got a can today, and it looks like it might stop raining here for about 4 days so my project list is long.

MY decks on my 6&7 foot RFM take a beating and they are hard to clean and will rust up quickly. I don't know if this stuff would cause the grass to clump or bind up in there (while mowing). Just looking for one more way to save the decks. Every two years they are lifted by the FEL and I wire wheel them down and repaint them. Getting an extra year would be nice.

I've heard people say that it keeps grass from clogging up under the deck, but I've heard others say that it doesn't stop clogging or that it doesn't stop it for long. But it's worth a try.

I think the best route would be to thoroughly clean the underside of the deck, and probably use a wire brush on an angle grinder to get it down to bare metal. Then prime and paint it with an appropriate deck paint, and then use FF on it before mowing with it.

Howdy,

Yes, Fluid Film works great on many many things. It stays around too. Others buy a gallon or 5 gallon bucket and spray the bottom side of their car or truck.

Chains=
I see some mention chain-saver. I use a very specific product on all my chains. (square baler and round baler)
Kellogs Professional Products Black Oil.
Note: Kelloggs 11.25 oz. black oil grease, sprays as 10W oil, sets up to 600W gear grease within minutes, will not sling off spinning gears or chain, doesn't harden or dry out, withstands temperature to 250 degree Fahrenheit, helps prevent rust, corrosion, friction, wear on motorcycle drive chains, conveyors, monorails, lift truck chains & rollers, fifth wheels, sliders on over the road trailers.

It goes on and coats the chains very well, and then thickens, so it does not fly off. Very good stuff.

My local NAPA in Park Rapids has Fluid Film as does Fleet Pride in Bemidji. And Amazon has everything.

Can you use Fluid Film for preventing bolts seizing? Would it be ok to use on spark plugs for this purpose or would the engine heat be too much for it?

I don't think it would work well for that.

I'd expect the smell of burning sheep lanolin to be unpleasant also.

And I wondered after it burned, what type of hard residue would be filling those spark plug threads...
