Hello all, I'm shopping for a sub compact with loader and came across a local dealer selling a 2017 1023E with the 120R loader...18hours for $10,800 (no deck). The powertrain warranty expires in 2023, bumper to bumper has expired. Is this a good price for one of these?

I've been looking at new MF GC1723e, BX2380 and Kioti CS2210 and pricewise they're $2-4k more overall than this used Deere. The Deere dealer is good, and the dealers for the other brands seem good as well. Just looking for the opinion of the tractor nuts out here :)

I'd probably price a new version of the JD so I had an idea how much I'm truly saving. The hrs are nothing, although I'd be curious why someone traded it in with only 18 hrs on it?

TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors will give you specifications on the machines you are looking at to see how comparable they are.

TractorHouse.com | Used Tractors For Sale: John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Kubota. might have some listings on the 1023E to see if it's priced right.

Kubota's website will let you build/price a new BX2380. Expect to pay 85% of what's listed on the website. This will help you to know if the dealer is pricing fairly.

I'm not sure about the website abilities of MF or Kioti.

I have quotes on the other models, just not a new 1023E. The other manu's quotes are all 10-15% below the MSRPs on their websites and I've quoted several dealers to get an idea on my area. From what I can tell on Tractorhouse, for the hours the price looks good, but am trying to decide how important the shorter remaining warranty on this unit compared to a new unit is. Do you all see many powertrain warranty issues on these with under 500 hours?

In talking to the Deere dealer, this tractor was either a lease return, or a Deere financial repo. This particular dealer gets these units from Deere financial for both of those type of situations.

In regards to warranty. I pay little attention to it. Most problems will appear within the first 20hrs or so. Beyond that, if I think I need longer warranty, I am buying the wrong product. I never buy extended warranty. That's a betting game with the manufacturer and he is making the rules. And he is generally going to win. Odds are stacked.

That makes sense on the machine having those hours.

My JD2210 has 875 hrs. I have no doubt the powertrain will do another 875 hrs with no major issues. I bought it because I believe in the product. Bought it used with 113hrs and no warranty.

My 1025R in 2013 was $15k with the loader. Don't know how they depreciate.

The only two redeeming features of the 1025R was its nice seat and gentle startup of the PTO. These were improvements over the JD 4010 (like a 2019E if they made them now) and are better than what my 2025R has for these (e.g. it's rough riding and has the abrupt PTO startup like the 4010 had that likely was complicit in causing its Ujoint disintegration at 660 hours and 9 years).

Otherwise, the 1025R was a LEMON. Lots of problems with it. Biggest problem was with the FEL. NO WAY would I ever consider loading something into the FEL and, from the side of the truck) loading it into the bed. Not at all dependable operation. Whereas, the 2025R's completely goofproof, much like the slower 4010's was.

Stopped in a went over the tractor yesterday and it is in like new condition. No scratches/dents/dings anywhere. The salesman pulled the history on the machine and they purchased it from Deere, it had never been sold to a customer. We're guessing it was probably a demo unit or show unit. It has the toolbox and the JD engine heater installed already. I think we're going to get it as the new ones are running $3-4k more around here, we're happy with the dealer and don't think we can go wrong the the price.
