Sounds as if you don't have much experience with tractors that it will take time to learn them. Having major surgery to a tractor isn't the type of thing you want to learn on.

If the tractor starts making strange noises or whatever, you might not know enough about them to know if it's normal or not. Because the hyrdostat does sound different even when it's running normal.

Also,

I see your near Columbus Ohio (or so). Is this tractor going to be used in the winter because you'll really want to consider a block heater and use conditioner in your fuel.

Definitely a fish out of water on this whole tractor thing! Have a lot to learn and this seems like a good resource. As you say, learning on a tractor that just had major surgery is probably a bit more than I can handle.

By the way, when you mention the sound of the hydrostatic, is that the slight whine I am hearing?

Good advice on the block heater. Isn't the diesel fuel that you buy at the pumps treated (conditioned)? Boy, I sure do have a lot to learn!

The Hydrostatic does have a definite whine to it. When I bought my B7500HSD I thought there was something wrong with it because it was so loud. After a while it did quieten down a bit so now I do not notice it very much.

Every HST on every tractor brand I tested whined. Either mine has gotten quieter or I just don't pay it any mind anymore. Except ofcourse when it really starts to whine, this is it's reminder to me to release the parking brake that I had set and forgotten. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I added the "stupid, the brake light is on" light and solved the problem, now if I can stop doing other stupid things.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here is a thread for adding the light.
