Basically you would be saving $600 plus the sales tax for 17 hours of useage already on the tractor. It doesn't say if this is a 2005 or 2006. Might not be a bad deal. You could bid on it and save a little more but risk losing the bid.

If I run up there and it runs good - this series cadet is a pretty good unit?

I was ready to jump on a 2165 for $1,000 before since all of ya guys said that was a great model.

The 1554 just as good? I don't need a mower until May really so i could sit and wait to see what else comes along (maybe a bit closer then a 5 hour drive).

But if this unit is a good model then maybe I should just grab it while i still can!

IMHO, a 54" deck is an awful lot to hang from a 1000 series CC. You'll get years of service from it if it was setup by a dealer, you dont let the deck drag on the ground, you don't overload the hydro and you keep up on basic maintenance. The 2000+ are better suited for rough terrain, hills, HEAVY operators and pulling stuff.

He said he bought it from lowes, so not set by a dealer.

I'd probably look else where unless you get a real good price. Nothing special about the 1554... not shaft driven like the 2000 series. Thats a long trip for an average mower.

there is someone in my neighborhood selling what I believe is a 2165. (I only saw it from afar, but it is definetely a 2000 series) the price tag says 1,500. I live outside Richmond Va. a long trip from NJ, but if it is something you are interested in I could get more info for you.

Ack, I thought the 1500 series was shaft driven!!! See good thing I post here and ask you guys questions!

Is shaft driven that much better in the long run? Is it less wear and tear and less breaking down the road, or longer lasting for a mower?

If the units was close I would be more tempted, but since its such a hassle to travel 10 hours back and forth to get it I might wait and see what else pops up!

BTW - anyone near NJ with a great cadet for sale lemmie know!!! I am tempted to start looking at some JD units too now.

Richmond VA might be a but far for me - thats south of DC isnt it?

I almost hate looking for tractors now since I keep looking at more and more expansive models and thinking I can afford that one!!!!

I just started looking at 2554's! There is a cadet dealer just over the bridge into PA from me. A nice setup with a snow blower too for a bit more then $4300

But then i think my wife would kill me if I spend that much!!!

Maybe I can tell her I got a deal and it costs 2k! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
