Kubota L235; JD 5093e
Hi all-

I'm recently retired from the fire department and looking to start ranching again to keep occupied. We just bought a very small 35 acre place with mostly hay fields. My current 23 horse Kubota is to small for what I need. I happened across a used 2009 5093E. It has 3100 hours, power reverser, two sets of hydraulics, loader, etc. I've been reading reviews; I don't see anything too horrible. I'd like some input on things such as reliability, usability, power for running a mower, bailer, snowblower, etc. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2011 5093E with MFWD and loader, it's been pretty good with no real major problems like anything else a little to much electronics to suit me, I put in about 20 acres of millet in the spring and 20 acres of rye for my cows in the fall and some hay throughout the year so for what little I do it's been good, if I farmed for a living I wouldn't want it because to me the controls are not user friendly, but I suspect it will do fine for what you want to do. Thanks for replying. I've read all the threads about your tractor; seems to be a decent machine.

I owned a 2010 and I wasn稚 impressed. Underpowered and like previously stated The remotes were not user friendly. To be fair I live in steep hillside farming Pa.area... I pulled a jd 457 round baler on my ridge ... with hillside baling. Baling up and down.. heavy hay and it wasn稚 no power house . I don稚 know ur area but if it痴 all flat should be ok . I also pulled 10 jd hx hog and it too wasn稚 impressive. No power for the size especially on the pto. I traded up to more power.. I personally wouldn稚 recommend it .. but it might be ok for u. Just my opinion.

Did you have any trouble with it, mechanically or electronically? The electronics are the main thing that make me shy away. I'm a long way from service help if it goes south.

I had no problems with the electronics... that I can recall. My biggest gripe was it痴 to light and underpowered for its size. I might add I had a FEL and all 4 tires filled along with 4 rear wheel weights.. 2 /wheel. It still was under weight in my opinion but did the job for the time being. This machine series seems to be popular with several I guess but in my opinion jd overrates them. Just my opinion. Have a good 1.
