HELP- JD 5093 12x12 power reverser blowing fuse when shifted to reverse

2009 John Deere 5093e Serial Number: LV5093E160792

I was haying today when the tractor suddenly came to a stop with transmission warning light on. Found F17 (10a) blown. Replaced fuse and confirmed transmission works in all ranges forward. As soon as you move the power reverser to the reverse position, the fuse blows.

I've done some trouble shooting, but before I throw that out and get people thinking one way or the other (and in case I made a mistake), is there any common cause (except the column shifter; that ohmed out ok)? This tractor is my main tool, and I'm hours away from a JD dealer. Any help would be truly appreciated before I have it hauled in.

" It sounds like you may either have a shorted reverse shift solenoid, a shorted wiring harness, or you directional control is shorting out, You can troubleshoot this with a test light and a digital multi meter. I hope this helps "
