Used John Deere 6430 Premium.

That 6430 is a nice tractor but may be limited some by the transmission.

Alot depends on what other work you need this tractor for, if it were mainly to operate the tiller I would think a slightly used 2wd tractor at a lower cost would work well for this. Not every tractor needs 4x4 especially when you have several other tractors on hand. For operating the tiller you need pto hp, physical size and good selection of proper ground speeds.

Sometimes we have to use 4x4 in wet land because we irrigate the fields before planting.

I think its too powerful for a JD 7630 our tiller isnt really that big.. its alittle bit wider than the tractor. We have a neighbor with a 7330 STD w/ the same tiller he used to have a JD 6430 STD and traded it in because some bum hole literally cut his rear axle and put a hole in his tire. I believe that's the story I don't communicate with my neighbors their our competitor. Have you guys looked at the pictures of tractor yet?

I guess I'm confused... Are you saying the 6420 is too powerful for the tiller and you need a 6430.. or you'll get a 5525 for the wagon's and the 6430 for the tiller? And the 6420 is leftover for... well, I'm just not getting it!

Easiest and cheapest is to hook the 5525 to the wagons and the 6420 to the tiller. Leave that shiny, bright pretty 6430 on the dealer's lot! (Sure is a good looking machine!)

From the look of the shifter handle - looks like it may have the Powerboost (sp) hi/lo shift? That would keep that tiller spinning.. even if it you hit a wet spot!

Well you know your field conditions better than I do but if you are using a forward rotation tiller it will push the tractor through slick spots. I played with my gear tractor (820) with a Howard tiller one day last year, I put the tractor in nuetral just to see what the tiller would do. It scooted that tractor across the field at a good clip.

A counter rotating tiller would be a different matter.

Well.. I wasn't totally sure when I posted the question/statement.. I went back and looked at the specs and it's a 16 speed -- so, it's a quad -- if it had the hi-lo it would be a 32? Yes?

I don't think so, but I a not 100% sure. As far as I know they have a 16, 20, or 24 speed.

Woah woah woah slow down, im saying the 6715 has better jobs to do rather than use the tiller like run the disk. The 6430 will be on the tiller, the 6420 is on the disk and its too light and weak for it. will be doing wagons and other stuff with the 5085M, 5525 and 2 other tractors will have lots of jobs to do.

It is just the standard powerquad 16/16 which is standard on the premiums.
