Hello all,

I am planning on buying a Kubota BX2230 in the future but ran across a used 2000 model BX2200 with 60" deck and FEL for around $8900. The tractor has 165hrs. on it. Does this seem like a fair deal or slightly high on the price? I am not sure whether it has the 3 position or 4 position valve. That will be a big part of my decision. Any input?

If it is in good condition, I think that is a very good deal.

The price sounds very good for what you are getting. If you are considering using a snow blower or front blade, you will need the 4 position valve. Check the numbers on the valve with the Kubota dealer to verify if it is a 3 or 4 position valve. If it is the 3 position valve, have the dealer quote the cost of changing it to a 4 position valve and figure that into your costs when you make your final decision. I doubt that there is any residual value to a 3 position valve after you replace it.

I would never sell my BX for that little! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Even with the three position valve, that is a steal!

FYI the 4 position valve stays on the tractor all the time. The 3 position valve comes off with the loader. Meaning with a 4 position valve and loader controls always stay on the tractor and 3 position they come off with the loader and are not in your way when mowing,etc....sounds like a decent price on that tractor,if you can get them to finance it,cheaply....IMO..

Yes, it is the one on EBay. I didn't want to divulge my sources. Not sure about this tractor yet though. I had planned on paying cash for it because for this one I can dish out the cash, for new I would be forced to finance about half or so. It is a 2000 so I believe it is probably out of warranty so that may be a problem.

On the BX22, 1500, 1800, 2200, both the 3 and 4 position valves come off with the loader unless you choose to pull the lower pin and leave it on. On the 2004 models designated by the new numbers, it stays on the tractor and the 3 position valve is discontinued.

Junkman,

This is exactly what I thought until my BX2230 was delivered this weekend. While shopping for BX2200, BX1500, etc, I knew I wanted the 4 pos valve. After reading on this site that the new 2004 BX2230 came with the four pos standard, I didn't even give it a second thought. Once my new BX2230 was delivered to my house I realized it has the new style joystick with the rubber boot, but it is indeed a three position valve and comes off with the loader. There is not a way to even leave this one on the tractor with the loader off.

I called the owner of my Kubota Dealer and he said if I ever need to add the snowblower or front blade, he would swap it out for me no charge. I do like the clear view without the valve and joystick there when mowing.

I am wondering if there was a design change somewhere along the line. I will have to check and see if I can find the build date on my tractor.

I would have him change it out for you now before he changes his mind. From everything that was posted in the past and that I read, the 4 position valve was going to be standard and would remain on the tractor. It might have been the BX23 that was being discussed and I just assumed that it carried over to the rest of the line. I will do some research on this and if I find the answers, I will post them and the reference web site. Thanks for pointing out my error and sorry for the misinformation....
