Tractor
Kioti CK25HST
1) Used 3130 with loader. 250 hours. I think it's a 2002 or 2003. Tractor is nice shape, loader looks rougher. Has HST. $12,900

2) Brand new shiny CK25 with loader. Shuttle shift. $13,900

Which one would you buy?

Do you know which loader is on the 3130?

If the loader is the 513 then it is roughly the same capacity as the Kioti 130 loader. If it is the 723, the the 3130 will have greater loader capacity. The 3130 also has greater 3pt capacity, and it has 7 more HP so you'll be able to power larger tillers, rotary cutters, mowers, etc.

Generally I would consider it a mismatch to put these two tractors up against each other. The CK30 is much closer to the L3130, although I believe it still falls a bit short in all the capacity measurements. The CK30 is a good alternative to the 3130 who don't require the extra strength that the 3130 offers and don't need every bit of HP.

I guess the condition of the 3130 would be a consideration that would sway me against it, but with only a couple hundred hours on the ticker (about 80 hours per year), it seems like a no brainer to pick the extra power, capacity and the HST transmission that the L3130 offers. The HST alone is about a $1000 option.

Either tractor should run for 5000 to 10,000 hours, so both are essentially new from the standpoint of the engine hours.

Bob ,the loader is the 513.

It's funny re the condition, as the tractor itself looks almost new, but the loader looks rough.

Well roughly the 513 loader and the 130 loaders are pretty similar. Can't get past the fact that you'd be giving up 7 hp, HST transmission and plenty of 3pt capacity and paying more to pick up the CK25. I'm biased here, the CK25 is one of the few Kioti models I do not like. My dislike is objective and well documented, I won't repeat it all, but I'm sure I'll be bashed for even mentioning it again. So be it. As to why the loader looks beat up and the tractor looks good, I don't really have a clue. If it is cosmetic then I probably wouldn't worry about it. If the hoses are damaged then you'd need to factor in the cost of some replacements, but those are cheap and easy. Buckets can take a beating, my tractors look good but my buckets look like they've been through a war or two, that is just the nature of using them, especially if used for moving stone.

From my standpoint the only advantage to the Kioti is that it has a warrenty, but the disadvantages are too easy to list given the capacity, hp, transmission & price differences in these machines. And for less than the $1000 price difference, you could probably buy a 3rd party warrenty for the Kubota for some piece of mind.

Bob makes some good points. Seven ponies are seven ponies, but considering the inefficiencies of a hydro transmission your delta may only be five or so at the PTO. Throw in the warranty and a tractor only you've maintained vs. one who knows who has maintained, I'd go with the CK25.

But that difference is still going to equal 12" wider pto powered implements which translates into getting the jobs done more efficiently.

One thing we haven't covered....what will you be using the tractor for? If you need to get into small openings and tight areas then go with the Kioti. If it will be used in more open area where size isn't a factor, I'd go with the Kubota for the extra capacity. I might also check with the dealer to see how much extra he'd charge to swap out the beat-up 523 loader for a newer 723.

When you say the loader is rougher, have you checked out the bushings really well to make sure they're not too worn? Does it appear that the loader has been kept well greased?
The 3130 is a good tractor and with a good loader the price is decent.
I, myself, would prefer to have the warranty of a new purchase, but I would suspect at those hours, any issues have come and been repaired unless that's the reason for the sale.
I think you'd be happy with either of them, and it would be hard to turn down the extra power for $1000.
Depsite Bob's wanting to get bashed for not liking the CK25, I'm not going to. I wouldn't want him to have that much fun! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
It's his opinion, and welcome to it. John

I'd say thats a great price for the 3130, I would not be surprised to see it sell for a fair amount more than that.
