I was looking at a used, two bottom 14" plow with Coulter wheels that was for sale at the local tractor emporium. Other than surface rust, it seems to be in pretty good shape. The coulter bearings still turn freely, and the frame is pretty heavy duty. The hand labelled sign said "Ford 2-bottom". What are these going for on the used market?

I paid $250 for mine. Its an old Oliver 2 bottom 16 that can be set up for 16, 14 or 12. Bought it from a co-worker.

Are you sure it is a Ford plow? Somewhere on the plow usually on the 3 pt. attachment there should be a metal plate indicating the model. Old Ford plows were painted red with either a Dearborne or Ford plate. The later Ford plows were painted blue. If this plow is a Ford and hasn't been sprung I feel that $ 200-225 would be a fair price. I would not go over $225 because there are a lot of two bottom plows on the market.

Please define this and tell how to check for it.

Sprung : Past tense of spring. Just a little kidding. Most plows have a mechanism that will trip the moldboard in the event the plow hits something solid. Most 3 pt plows had a spring trip or shear pin( less Expensive) Sometimes the springs get rusty and harden or harden bolts are used. The plow hits a large rock, stump etc the plow frame will bend(spring) If this happens the plow will not plow properly. In mid Tn we always watched for this when trading plows.
