Used prices-might as well buy new?

/ Used prices-might as well buy new? #21
i took a long time looking, and stumbled across my TN75. I knew my prices really well, and once I found the TN, i run like heck to the dealer that had it listed. 2 guys came in later that day after i had spoken for it. It was a sweet deal, but if i hadn't have known my prices, i would have lost it. My advice is keep looking, it's a buyers market out there.

I paid $32,000 for this 2009,300 hours. Got really lucky, but it was listed on consignment at a dealer and the seller had to liquidate his assets in a hurry.

Correct me if I am wrong, isn稚 he going to need at least 45 - 50 hp?

E/S

No, because I don;t intend to ever till more than 2-3 acres and I only plan to mow 10 at the most.

It's about 50% wooded, and the only reason the hay is being cut now is that the neighbor (a former 8th grade student of mine) is the one who sold it to me at a reduced price in exchange for the hay. If he ever decides he doesn't want the hay anymore then I'm going to let most of it go back to the wild.

I was in the same situation a couple of years ago. Needed a 40 + hp, with
a front loader. Only had a 12k budget. Since I wasnt in a big hurry, I just
laid back and checked every day. Kept and eye on the classified, local dealers, tractorhouse and several more.

It took over a year to find what I wanted. It was 350 miles away in Texas.
It had a 1000 hrs on it, and the seller needed money in a hurry. Havnt had
any problems with my lil kubota, and no regrets for buying used.

I have come to the same conclusion.....twice. Dealers are ready to deal and 0% makes it a no brainer.

Not everyone can afford new.

Buying used you can often come out of the deal with more HP and paying less, 2, 3, 4000 dollars less.

It really comes down to your bank account. Right now, I wouildn't want a payment for the next 60 months.

... Dealers are ready to deal and 0% makes it a no brainer.

just curious...if someone was going to pay cash for the same tractor that another person was financing at 0%...would the bottom line prices be the same...not sure but I don't think so...

When looking I found several used tractors that were the same model I was looking at with low hours but higher HP. There were some good deals but they didn't last long or the dealer was just using them to bait people into buying new by saying they had a deposit on them. But I was looking at places like Tractorhouse at tractors not near me. That meant that either I had to be ready to jump without getting to test drive it as soon as something came up or be ready to drive to see it on short notice.

After dealing with several dealers a clear pattern started to appear. First they would be slow at returning my calls/ emails, a day or two. Secondly they would take little to no time to get me more pictures, with in hours, but then slow to answer questions, days. Finally they would say that it has a deposit on it when I was ready to drive down and see it. Of course they were quick to offer me a quote on a new tractor.

I got tired of it but I also got more comfortable with dealing over the phone. So I just checked prices for new from a few local dealers and a couple from aways away. The best price won the day.
