Will I finally got a chance to use my new 46BH. Dug out six stumps with it and I must say it worked great /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I know I won't be digging any basements with it but for what I need to do it is just right. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Glad you're enjoying the BH. Pictures would be good.

So when you bought the 46BH did you have to buy anything else
with it, or does the BH come with all necessary pieces. I gather
it requires Power Beyond, but I can't figure out if that is part of
the list price or not.

Power Beyone is not included in the price. Everything else needed is included. At least it was when I bought my 48 backhoe.

Power Beyond, BH, frame and a taller loop for the ROPS is what is listed on bill of sale.

JDGreen,

I am considering the 46 backhoe for my JD 4100.

The JD website appears to imply that the sub-frame is included in the base price, but you have to select the right model. Was this the case?

Mind sharing what you paid?

Did you stick with the default 9" bucket, or go larger?

Is the taller ROPs really needed - would you be hitting your head if you didn't have it?

Does it move fast enough with just the power-beyond feeding it? I see from your profile that you have a 4115. I am concerned that the lower hydraulic flow on my 4100 would make the backhoe a bit sluggish, so I am hoping you will say it is plenty fast on your 4115.

Rick,
The way my invoice was set up the frame was included as part of the hoe. I paid $5400 for everything. I got the 9" that is included and also bought a 13" bucket. For my height (6'1")I think I would have hit my head on the old ROPS. As for speed of operation it worked plenty fast for me. I have never operated a hoe before so maybe my opinion will change as I gain experiance. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I hope you don't mind, but I have 1 other question.
How long is your 4110 with the 410 FEL and the 46BH attached?
That is, how much building space does it require?

None of the dealers in my area (there are three within
25 miles) have a 46 (or even a 47 or 48) on the lot, so
it's had to get an idea about this BH. I appreciate your
assesment and comments.

Thanks,
Cliff

Cliff,
I use a shed that is 12' x 20'. In order to close the doors I swing the boom over to one side. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
