Used tractor leaking

when I used to import from japan many of the hubs on the 4wd tractors were pumped full of grease. I used to clean them out etc.. but thinking back on it, if the hub was packed with a synthetic grease it would probably be just fine and no more leaks.

Mine leaked. After fixing it I drilled a pin hole vent in the filler cap, pushed some gun grease in the pin hole, ran it down the road a mile which let it heat up enough to push out the grease. Over time the seal wears out, or whatever, enough so that it can't handle the pressure. I won't be running the axle into a creek so the pin hole shouldn't be a problem for me. Others have done much more sophisticated things than my pin hole.
