used value vs.new

After three nights of reading this forum, I can finally post a thread.
My situation is this:
I have 20 acres of woods, open grass/meadow, 15 horse stalls and large barn, 2 wells, 4 septic systems and a 10 acres of fields needing to be turned into some kind of income producing crop(now its hay and I,m leaning towards berries) etc.

I also can use the tractor for income based on my situation.

I need a good working tractor(workhorse with small footprint), some type of finish mower( pull behind ?), brush hog mower, FEL, box blade, post hole attachment, tiller and backhoe(later).

I can purchase a used B2400 but have no idea as to the value.
B2400 w/380hrs., hard top canopy, 60"MMM, turf tires. and have money for attachments. The tractor looks new/ one owner and will be bought at auction.
or
I can purchase a new B2630 @ $12,600 or new B3030 @ $13,900 for 0 down and 0% for three years, set up and delivered with demo and p/u and delivery at no charge for all warranty work and free p/u and delivery for all service non warranty for two years. Sounds good to me.

At the right price, knowing the B2400 value, I can trade up or be satisfied with the 24 hp.

I am new to this, I want to purchase a Kubota based on my previous use of these machines but need some help on $, value, size or horsepower.

At a dealer the difference in price between new and used is not huge for tractors with 200-300 hours or less. So the 0% financing on a new one makes it a toss-up. IMHO, the warrantee is nice but doesn't represent a lot of value because problems on Kubotas are so rare. Auction prices can be very attractive on large machines (60 hp and up) - but so many people are looking for small tractors, they sometimes go as high as they might be from a dealer. With the acreage and buildings you have, I'm wondering if you might want a larger machine - still a compact tractor, but something in the 40 hp range that would handle 6-7 foot attachments. Hi Daro I have found that prices on Kabota's hold very well with low hours 200-300, I have upgraded many machines over the years and have found the trade in value to be excellent. On the b2400 I at one time owned a b2400 when we had a much smaller place. I found that the b2400 is very capable in the right setting. Today we have started a berry farm and have 5000 bushes in the ground and found that the 2400 was to small and did not have adaquate hyd. flow for running attachment and ground clearance was also an issue. we now run L4630GST and I find for my application the 4630 is ideal in fact we just ordered our second 4630 sould be in in two weeks. I have found you need to look at your tractors needs 2,3, nad 4 years out. example what will I need to accomplish how many hours will I have available will I need help to harvest. I hate to say it but you need to sit down and write a business plan it will get you to start thinking about how you are going to get revenue from you property, the tractor you will find is a component of the mix. I wish you well.

Thanks for the replies and great advice. I'm already 3 years into the business plan and have needed a tractor from day one.
As suggested, I know larger will work best in the long run and was searching for the input about the B2400 since i'm not familiar with this model.
Feed back from dealers yesterday said value for the B2400 was between $6500 and $7500 so will see what the auction brings forth.
I'll compare the stats on the suggested L series and try a side by side demo with the new B3030 also.

I'm not a big poster here, but I have quite a bit of experience with the B2400. It's a great tractor in the right situation for sure. It was great for me for a couple of years, but I found the light weight and PTO HP a bit short. It was a tough go with a 2 stage snowblower, for example. I had a 60" Land Pride finish mower that worked well, but we had to cut a bit slowly. It was great for our loader needs. Uphill work with the rear blade and rake work was fine, but the tractor needed a bit more weight. Torque was fine.

We've sold that tractor and our pick is the B3030 next. For us it will be a better match. A bit more weight (500 extra lbs) and PTO hp and my shortcomings will be met. Our needs are a bit less than yours, but I think the 3030 would be OK for you, but larger might be better.

Tim, thanks for your input about the B2400. I presently mow about two acres around the lodge and can see a great benefit to having the B2400 as a primary mower. With the new aquisition of the horse stables and 9 acres of land I also see a need for a larger tractor. I,ve put the pencil to paper, so to speak, and am trying to find a good compromise.
If I'm lucky, the rains will come during the auction, I'll make a good purchase on the B2400, make up some money on the tradeup and be happier for it. I'm looking forward to test drive this week. Let me know YHO concerning the B3030. It seems like a no brainer copared to the B2630 base on price, but not sure with the L series.
