Using a 600 for winter wood hauling detail

If you hadn't listed the date of that photo I would have said you went to high school the same years as me (64-68). That kind of hair would have been right in style when I graduated. I couldn't have grown that much hair if I had had three heads.
My 850 developed an engine knock this winter and really had me concerned until I figured out it was the hydraulic pump cavitating (sp?) because of cold thick oil. As soon as I moved one of the controls the noise would go away.
I'm going to have to look and see if there is a screen that needs to be cleaned. Wish that synthetic oil wasn't so expensive as I think that would be the ticket in below 0 temps.

My 8N did the same thing this winter, guess she doesn't like working when it's -30°C lol. Once warmed up it stops. By the way Jim and Cvans I like your tractors.

Cvans, what oil you running? I think ford used to recommend a thinner oil than 134 during extreme cold weather. Don't know what it was as I live in the south. As for the hair, I get a kick looking at some of the guys pics in my old school annuals at some of their hair back then LOL. Thanks 8n Ren.

8N Ren Thank you. I like your 8N too. Was looking for one with a Sherman step-downd transmission for a while but couldn't find one. Thought about selling the 850 at one time but then came across a backhoe for it. It made a big difference in the tractors ease of steering and traction. Makes a whole different machine out of it.
Jim I'm using HY-Tran oil in the 850. Not real thick to begin with but sure gets that way in the winter. Let out the clutch in neutral when it stone cold and the tractor will try and move forward. Going to have to look for something different before next winter.
