Using a Leaf Blower to help burn brush

/ Using a Leaf Blower to help burn brush #11
Jrepp -- I use my leaf blower to get burn piles started under certain conditions, and you've described them perfectly. Usually I just stack the pile like a big teepee and splash kerosene around the base. The heat rises and the whole pile goes up. But during wet summers, like this one, on days with no breeze I've used the blower on idle to "fan the flames" and get it jump started. I aim the "wind" just over the flames, forcing the heat into the rest of the burnables. Think of it as a large bellows. I particularly like it because it makes burn piles possible on damp days when the fire danger is low.

I've also used it on large piles to spread the flames into the unburned portion. Works like a charm!
