So I'm still a newbie at a lot of this stuff, and have a question about the HF QH I bought (yeah, I'm cheap!). I noticed the openings in the hooks on the quick hitxh can accept the cat. 3 bushings, but on a couple of things (like my tiller) if I put cat 3 bushing on it, the hook won't fit into the implement. But I can use it with the smaller cat 2 bushing...but here's my question: there's is some amount of play with the smaller bushings; is that bad ju-ju? On other stuff the cat 3 bushings work fine, but to use them on my tiller and grader I'd have to grind the lift arm hooks just a little to get the clearance I need...I may do that anyway, but was wondering about how tight these should fit.

I wouldn't want any more play in there than necessary. I went with grinding out the hooks a little with a die grinder and didn't look back.

I use cat. 2 bushings on everything even the tiller and haven't noticed any problems. That little bit of extra clearance makes the QH even easier to hook up and unhook.

Stick with Cat. 2. Too tight is as bad as too loose. I love my HF QH and it works fine out of the box...

ENJOY!

OK, I guess I'm confused (not an unsual situation...). JD says the iMatch is designed for Cat 1 (7/8 inch pins) but (at least on mine) you need bushings up to Cat 2 (1 1/8 inch) for the pins to fit without a lot of play. So, all my attachments are set up with bushings for Cat 2.

Now, I went and bought a HF quick hitch to use for my loader-mounted quick hitch, and the Cat 2 bushings wouldn't fit, but it was very close. So, I wound up opening up the lower hooks to accept the same size bushings as the iMatch so I wouldn't have to change bushings every time I used the front hitch.

I thought the OP was having the same issue as me, but maybe not...

I don't think so, my link arm hooks were big enough for the cat 3 bushings, the top hook was after I removed about 1/16" inside the hook with a die grinder. My problem is that when using cat 3 bushings on the lower hooks, the thickness of the hook on the outside (geez, I hope this makes sense) is too much to fit between the frame and the pin on my tiller....that's the part I may grind down. Using the cat 2 bushings gives it enough clearance (play) to fit. But if having it a little loose isn't a bad thing (it is easier to hook up), I might just use cat 2 bushing and not worry about it.

Grind it! and use the bigger bushings, keep everything as snug as possible. there's enough slop in everything else, you don't need more.

It's a known issue with the HF quick hitches, you have to do a little fit and finish work, no big deal.

I've got a HF QH, they are well worth the money.

Mine works well out of the box, have not had any trouble with anything but the landpride finish mower, like u the hooks were a little thick for the cat 3 bushings so i just used cat 2 works fine. I have even just hooked up some stuff with the cat 1 pins if i didnt want to put a set of cat 1 to cat 3 adapters on if just going to move it or use it for just a few minutes. I have even found myself using the top link adapter on almost everything even if the hook would have worked, i keep it on almost all the time anyway.
