I am looking at a good condition used Woods 60" 3-point mount finish mower to use on a 2305. Will the front of the tractor need weights when I pick up the mower? Or are loaded tires sufficient.

Any experience with this?

I would say yes, you will need counter weight on the front.

I run a 48" bush hog on the back of my 2210.
I tried it once without any counter weight, and it was scary for sure.

5 suitcase weights on the front and it is much more stable

Good morning bill177.
Are you only mowing flat ground...does your tractor have FEL attach?

Mostly flat. FEL is installed, but I take it off when not in use.

I used to have an 8N with a hog on the back. It would jump up sometimes. That was 40 years ago - didn't know better back then on the farm.

I would just leave the loader on for front end weight when mowing. You can remove the bucket (I assume it is a quick attach bucket) for more manuverability. I have a Case-IH DX29 and a 60" rear mower and use 2 85# suitcase weights. Without the weight the front end is a little light on hills with the mower raised.

Morning Bill.
Since you rather mowe w/out FEL attach,I would follow the advice of the other gentlmen that's reply to your posting...also maybe purchase a spare weight just in case.

My Woods RM360 checks in at 535#. But if you have the 4 wheel type then no weight is on the 3pt when mowing. Then I leave mine on the ground all the time except to to get over the garage door opening.

Even with the 4-wheel type, you can get the rear wheels off the ground, extend the check chains and put weight on the 3 ph if you go over a swale.

Like the song says, don't ask me how I know.

I have a farm king and It is 60" weighting at 550 lbs. I have 5 42lbs suit case weights on the front of my JD 3120 due to fact if you hit a bump in the road with it up you may be bounced around a little.
