someone told me that I could use a finish mower for brush if I change the 2blades?? It looks beefy enough, but that doesn't mean anything.Somebody must know something about this?

you will end up burnning the belts and posibly bending either the deck itself or damaging the berrings. You can get away with some ruff cutting but if you push it to fare the finishing mower will fail you, like when you hit that larg ant bed or hidden fence post. "roll of barb wire"

Definitely not recommended unless you want to buy a replacement for an expensive attachment. Especially considering cutters cost 30%-50% of the price of a finish mower.

Now, if the mowing is just grass and the field is smooth and level...give it a try. But if there are any stumps, thick brush or such...buy a cutter.

The biggest difference between a brush and finish mower is that brush cutter blades are mounted on a pivot so that they can swing away, should something solid be struck. Finish mower blades are fixed, hence are more likely to bend/break/hurt something when that unknown object is nailed.

For known areas like mowing a field that has been regularly cut, it shouldn't be an issue. But for true brush work, stick with the right tool.

And finish mowers blade speed is WAYYYY up there compared to a bush hog. It is important to get the right tool for the job when it comes to brush.

On top of that the spindle, blade mount, and blades are several times thicker on a bush hog versus a finish mower.

I put Gator brand blades on my 7' LandPride and turn light brush into compost in 2 passes. Got the Gators from a guy on eBay. I tend to mow before the brush turns into Sherwood Forest though. Its a rear discharge so a lot of volume going through a side discharge chute isn't an issue. Its all about ground speed folks. If you insist on driving the speed limit on an icy road, the results are predictable...
