Next to my property, there is approx 2+ acres of tall grass/weeds (as high as 2-3ft). The lot(s) are for sale and the current owner is out of the State so as one can imagine, its not maintained. Could I use my 60"MMM on my BX2200 at a high setting, if not the "Top", to knock down the high grasses/weeds. There is no heavy brush or anything like as the lot was previously maintained and mowed - just high, thick grasses and weeds. I'd like to call the realtor and get permission to knock down the eye sore. Can I use the MMM or should I have the realtor get it shredded. I'm hoping to reach an agreement where they allow me to keep it mowed until its sold for a small fee, if any (the cost of diesel would be enough as it would mean more seat time). Can I attack this with my MMM or should I have it shredded first.

Also, the ground is very level.

Cutter with the deck raised but CHECK for saplings, ain't no use of breaking blades and make sure you have permission since the owner could say it was hay and cause way to much grief.

Scott,

Don't sell yourself short. Charge a reasonable price, you may be able to make a few dollars to buy more implements.

I did that a couple years ago and made $100 per week for 2 hours work.

I know I could charge the owners, but I'd rather see the area mowed and kept under control as it runs along side my property and it currently look like ____. Being inside all day at work, I really enjoy opportunities to be outside. Just want to make sure I don't damage my BX MMM. P.S, I did a more detailed look at the property and it does have one area with small sapling growth - since there only in one area and are soo much higher than the grass, avoiding them should be easy. Think I'll leave the FEl on and knock down the stuff I don't attempt to mow. I'd buy the property if they didn't want so much for it - would be a great baseball/football/soccer practice field once it was brought under control. Thanks for the replys.

sss: one thingu might want to take into consideration, is the fact that u must have permission to cut the area, also if u get paid for the work u better make sure that if something happens to ur machine while u are working or there is some other problem, your homeowners ins. may not cover it or you(assuming your tractor is coverd under hownowner).my tractor is coverd by homeowners and as long as i am not doing comercial work i would be covered. better to chek now before the fact. don't mean to be a gloomy gus but all things need to be considered.

Scott,
Just this past weekend, I mowed a neighbors back field that had gotten a little too far out of hand for his riding mower. The stuff was about knee high. I mowed it as if it were my own front yard and had no trouble at all. It amazed me and my neighbors how the BX tore thru the weeds with absolutely NO sign of bogging down. Also, I was mowing to the "inside" so that I could mulch up as much of the cuttings as possible. At times, the front of the tractor was plowing large piles of weed clippings that couldn't slip under the deck - but she kept going!
The only issue I had was that I got a little carried away going too fast and left some partially-whacked weeds standing that I had to go back over again.
I'm like you - I work in an office all day and can't wait to get home and do something - anything - outside. I've even been going to my neighbors asking if they need any chores done just so I can get more seat time!

"Brougt under control"? Why, is nature so ugly? Instead of a dead field for you to look through, you could have habitat for birds and wild animals. Get another hobby, you have too much time on your hands...Tom
